On April 4, 2024, the Open Day of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Chemical Technologies and Engineering took place. The event was attended by the Head of the Department of Ceramic, Refractory, Glass, and Enamel Technology, Prof. Olena Fedorenko, as well as Professors Viktoriia Taranenkova and Oksana Borysenko.
Participants had the opportunity not only to immerse themselves in the world of chemistry and technology but also to learn how to choose a promising specialty. They joined a STEM tour titled “Chemistry Around Us,” participated in a Kahoot quiz, and interacted with the faculty members of the graduating departments of the institute. For the first time, the event was held in a hybrid format — both online and offline — in a safe location on the NTU “KhPI” campus.
The STEM zone of the Department of Ceramic, Refractory, Glass, and Enamel Technology featured a hands-on Pop-Art Style Portrait Masterclass. Pop art, short for “popular art,” has undergone transformations in recent years and gained commercial success, enriching the fields of advertising, fashion, and design. Using simple construction plaster and water, participants created embossed portraits on hardened plaster, which they then painted in pop-art style. These unique portraits became memorable and personalized gifts — a fun and easy craft to recreate at home.
