About the department

Head of the graduation department «Oil, Gas and Condensate Production» Ilia FYK is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the scope of science and technology. He is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, 7 study guides and 3 monographs. In particular, with his participation, the following monographs were published: «Natural Gas of Ukraine. History and modernity», «Rules for the construction and operation of underground gas storage facilities in porous formations», «Energy security of the state: highly efficient technologies for the production, supply and use of natural gas».

Combination of education and science. The department carries out actual research works aimed at increasing the extraction of gas, condensate, increasing the efficiency of the use of oil and gas, the inventing of alternative oil-energy carriers, and the expansion of hydrocarbon production. The department constantly carries out the scientific work, which is supported by economic agreements with oil and gas enterprises.

The department implements work to create a sufficient base for scientific activities and the development of a scientific school, corresponding to the profile of training masters in the specialty 185 «Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology», EPP «Oil and Gas Production». Researches such as «Creation of liquids for intensification of gas and condensate production RP-1 and RP-1K», «Program for forecasting gas field development indicators» and others carried out by the teachers of the department are the basis for the continuous development of the content, forms and methods of master’s training.

In the research work, the areas of creation of express methods for assessing the quality of oil, gas, condensate in order to accelerate their involvement in processing processes at industrial enterprises are relevant. The department has a certified laboratory, teachers of the department take part in the work, students are actively involved. According to the results of research, works are published, they are reported at scientific and practical conferences of various levels. Most of these works are published in quarterly thematic publications of the National Technical University «KhPI” «Integrated Technologies and Energy Saving» and O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv «Municipal Economy of Cities» and others.

Creation of comfortable learning conditions (equipped classrooms, classrooms and laboratories, a dormitory, a sports complex, a dispensary, recreation and cultural centers, etc.), information (libraries, reading rooms, accessible Internet), methodological provision of training, careful selection of teachers and constant improvement of their qualifications, the working cultural and educational program, constant development of the material and technical base of the department and the university – all this contributes to the stability of the quantitative composition of the contingent of students and an increase in its quality.

The high level of training of department graduands is confirmed by their annual prize awards since 2011 in the All-Ukrainian competitions of student scientific works and All-Ukrainian student olympiads and industry scientific and practical conferences, which are traditionally held on the basis of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas in the direction of «Oil and Gas Business» specialty «Oil and Gas Production».

Scientific and pedagogical work is carried out by highly qualified employees of the department: head of the department, D.Eng.Sc., prof. Illia FYCK, D.Eng.Sc., prof. Volodymyr BILETSKYI, D.Eng.Sc., Associate Professor Mykhailo FYCK; candidates of technical sciences, associate professors: Olena VARAVINA, Dmytro DONSKYІ, Danylo RYMCHUK, Valerii TOPOROV; senior teachers: Maryna BUROVA, Olena YATSKEVICH, DPhil Serhii LEVONIUK.

Work is ongoing to improve the qualifications of the teaching staff, which is carried out once every five years, as evidenced by the plans and reports of teachers. Advanced training of teachers is carried out in accordance with the standard Regulation on certification by training in the corresponding courses at NTU «KhPI», UkrNDIgaz and in other institutions, independent improving of professional and pedagogical skills. Teachers take part in conferences and seminars on the profile of academic disciplines that are taught. So, all teachers over the last 5 years have undergone a relevant improvement of scientific and pedagogical qualifications.

The Department «Oil, Gas and Condensate Production» maintains contact with leading scientific institutes of Ukraine, takes an active part in training specialists for foreign countries, their total number is kept at the level of 300 people.

The Department «Oil, Gas and Condensate Production» has the opportunity to ensure a high level of training for specialists through the use of full-time teachers and part-time teachers.

To ensure the educational process, the department has prepared study guides and methodology guidelines for practical classes on curriculum disciplines. So, over the last 5 years, the academic teaching staff of the department has published 11 study guides and methodology guidelines, in particular, among them «Introduction to the specialty. Oil and gas engineering», «Technology for the collection and preparation of oil products. Calculation workshop», «Geology of oil and gas», «Physics and chemistry of combustible minerals», etc.

The department is located in the U-4 building, the sanitary and technical condition of which meets the established requirements of sanitary standards. The premises of the department are located on the 3-rd floor of this building. The total area of the department «Oil, Gas and Condensate Production» is 484 m2.

The department has 3 classrooms, a 1 class with simulation stands with an area of 104 m2, 3 laboratories with specialized equipment for physical and chemical tests, laboratory and research work and diploma design with a total area of 159 m2. The computer class with an area of 40 m2 has 12 modern personal computers combined into a local area network, which is connected to the general computer network of the University, which has access to the global Internet.

Laboratory equipment and instruments provide studies of the physical and chemical properties of formation rocks, including logging methods, determination of mechanical properties, elemental composition, etc. A set of standard instruments provides a study of the properties of oil and gas. The department has a working collection of oil and gas reservoir rocks (sandstones, siltstones, carbonate rocks), which are used in laboratory and practical work.

Simulation stands in the amount of 12 units cover a wide range of oil and gas production processes, as well as the geological structure of the earth’s surface. The department has a large number of educational computer programs for calculating indicators of the development of oil and gas deposits, as well as multimedia tools for carrying out the educational process.
