The International Scientific-Practical Symposium “Problems of Improvement of Electrical Machines and Apparatuses. Theory and Practice” (SIEMA) was established in 1998 within the framework of international cooperation with leading electrical engineering enterprises in Poland.
At the inaugural symposium, scientific achievements were presented exclusively by the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” (NTU “KhPI”) and leading enterprises of Kharkiv, Ukraine.
Since 1999, SIEMA has evolved into an annual international scientific forum, attracting leading researchers, industry representatives, and academic staff from prominent universities and research institutions across Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Azerbaijan, Latvia, Germany, Israel, the USA, and other countries.
From 1999 to 2015, the symposium’s scientific focus encompassed electrical machines, electrical apparatus, strong electric and magnetic fields technology, and theoretical foundations of electrical engineering.
In 2016, the scope of SIEMA was significantly expanded to include broader topics, prompting a renaming of the symposium to “Problems of Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics”.
Since 2021, participants have been eligible to receive certificates confirming their participation and the completion of 12 academic hours (equivalent to 0.4 ECTS credits).
Beginning in 2024, the Department of Electrical Apparatus at NTU “KhPI” established an editorial board to oversee the publication of symposium proceedings titled “Problems of Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics” (SIEMA).
The symposium’s collection of abstracts is accessible on the official SIEMA website (link) and archived in the Scientific and Technical Library repository of NTU “KhPI” (link).
