International cooperation

In July 2024, within the framework of the most important activity of the Ukrainian language department – international cooperation – at the Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Republic of Poland), representatives of our department (senior lecturer M.Yu. Lukhina) met with the director of the Institute with the aim of establishing international contacts of East Slavic philology by Mr. Yakub Sadovskyi. The results of the meeting were agreements on future cooperation:

Video conference of representatives of the Department of Ukrainian Language of the Institute of East Slavic Philology of the Jagiellonian University and the Department of Ukrainian Language of NTU “KhPI” (scheduled for October 2024);
Development of promising directions:
1) joint conferences;

2) exchange of lectures on such subjects as “Ukrainian language (for professional purposes)”, “Ukrainian terminology”, “Ukrainian as a foreign language”, “Socio-cultural aspect”, “Peculiarities of Ukrainian translation”;

3) co-authorship in writing scientific articles;

4) preparation of the Cooperation Agreement between Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Republic of Poland) and NTU “KhPI” (Kharkiv, Ukraine).

 

For more than twenty years, the department cooperated with the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Austrian Alpen-Adria University in Klagenfurt. Fruitful work was embodied in the following types of activities: summer courses for Ukrainian and Austrian students; two textbooks for German-speaking students, three dictionaries of lexical parallels were created; educational excursions; a special project on the study of Ukrainian surzhik (questionnaire, transcription, grammatical and lexical-semantic description).

Head of the Department of Slavic Studies at the University of Klagenfurt, Prof. Tilman Reuter was the permanent director of the Summer Language School, which contributed to the quality study of languages ​​by Austrian and Ukrainian students. Communication is maintained with the Vienna Institute of Economics, linguist teacher Charlotte Hahn, who annually took an active part in the organization and conduct of the Summer Language School. Cooperation continues even now, despite Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine. A new language study program has been created – the new Summer School “Summerschool Osteuropa”, which is conducted subject to the approval of the BMBWF.

This year the school will work only in Austria, without a visit to Ukraine (Innsbruck / Obergurgl). Its participants will be 25 students from Austrian universities and 25 students from Ukrainian higher education institutions.

For many years, the department cooperated with the German A. Humboldt University (Dr. Suzanne Laudin) and the French University of Bordeaux-Montagne. Language courses were conducted for German and French students, two dictionaries, three textbooks and two educational videos were created. Two-week language courses for foreign interns of these universities were held in Kharkov for several years in a row at the Department of the Ukrainian Language, the students received certificates from NTU “KhPI”.

During 2023-2024, we cooperate with the Department of Slavic Studies, Faculty of Arts, Palatskyi University in Olomouc (Czech Republic). The head of the Ukrainian language department is Dr. Ulyana Kholodova. The memorandum on cooperation between our universities is in the process of being signed.

International activity

During the two academic years of Art. teacher Lukhina Maryna Yuriivna worked at Ankhoy Pedagogical University and Ankhoy Business College (PRC). During her studies, she used one of the most effective language teaching technologies – cooperative pedagogy, prepared more than 100 Chinese students for the master’s degree, participated in the MAPRYAL conference at the Shanghai University of Foreign Languages.

International internship and professional development

In 2024, Professor Larysa Subota completed a scientific internship in Canada at Thompson Rivers University (TRU, The Thompson Rivers University) in online format. Head Dr. John Churchley. Internship topic: “Innovative Teaching Techniques and Programs of Study in Post-secondary Education. Integration to International Academic Community”.

In 2023, 2024 Assoc. Andriy Homon underwent a certified international scientific advanced training for scientific and pedagogical workers (distance course in English, location and speakers: New York – London, leading teachers of universities in Great Britain and the USA, organizer and moderator: NGO “University of Leadership and Innovations”, Dnipro). He listened, considered and mastered 8 educational modules of the distance learning course “Quality and Sustainability in Higher Education: World experience and current trends”.
