The Department of Micro- and Nanoelectronics of NTU “KhPI” participated in the Round Table on Retraining of IDPs in the Field of Solar Energy
On February 6, 2025, a Round Table meeting was held at the National Technical University “KhPI” as part of the implementation of the EcoSKILL educational project aimed at retraining internally displaced persons (IDPs) for work in the field of solar energy. The project is implemented by the Public Organization “Association of Young Scientists of NTU “KhPI” with financial support from Razom for Ukraine.
The roundtable brought together more than two dozen representatives of the academic community, business and public organizations, including the “Solar Energy Association of Ukraine”, the Kharkiv Volunteer Union, the Kharkiv Employment Center and other interested stakeholders. The participants discussed current challenges and employment opportunities for IDPs in the renewable energy sector, in particular in the field of installation and maintenance of solar power plants (SPPs).
The event was attended by employees of the Department of Micro- and Nanoelectronics of NTU “KhPI”:
Minakova Kseniya Oleksandrivna, Professor, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences – co-organizer of the EcoSKILL project and teacher of the practical part of the course;
Zaitsev Roman Valentinovich, Head of the Department, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences – specialist in the field of solar energy and teacher of the practical part of the course;
Kirichenko Mykhailo Valeriyovych, Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences – specialist in this field in the field of solar energy and the practical part of the course.
Key discussion issues
– Among the main topics discussed at the Roundtable:
– Current state and prospects of the solar energy market in Ukraine;
– Interaction of educational institutions, business and volunteer organizations in the training and employment of IDPs;
– Psychological support and adaptation of IDPs to the conditions of the new labor market;
– Launch of the EcoSKILL course in the spring of 2025, which will include basic technical knowledge, practical skills in working with solar power plants, soft skills and business-oriented training.
It is expected that in 2025, 100 students will complete the EcoSKILL course, most of whom are IDPs seeking new opportunities for professional adaptation in the field of renewable energy.
Results and prospects
Following the results of the Round Table, several key areas were formed for the further development of the initiative, including:
– Expanding cooperation between universities and businesses to create internships and further employment of graduates;
– Introducing the latest technologies into the curriculum;
– Strengthening support for IDPs and other socially vulnerable groups through educational initiatives.
The Department of Micro- and Nanoelectronics of NTU “KhPI” continues to actively develop the direction of renewable energy and support initiatives aimed at the training and professional adaptation of internally displaced persons.
