Department today

The Department provides fundamental training of specialists in the specialty 142 “Power engineering” (educational program “Energetics”) in the following areas:

  • “Engines and hybrid power plants of vehicles” (bachelor’s degree, master’s degree);
  • “Innovative engineering of transport power plants” (master’s degree).

The educational process and scientific research at the department are provided by experienced professors and associate professors with significant experience in teaching and scientific activities. Among the teachers of the department are 3 laureates of the State Prize of Ukraine, 2 laureates of the Cabinet of Ministers Prize.

The department has a unique material and technical base. The total area of ​​the department is about 1700 sq. meters. It includes classrooms of technical training aids, a computer class, measurement and fuel equipment laboratories, two halls with 16 engine stands, where mini-engines, automobile, tractor, tank, other special engines, diesel locomotive and ship engine compartments are installed. The department branch operates at two car maintenance stations.

The student training curricula provide for the teaching of more than 40 special disciplines, including those related to design and 3D modeling, the use of computer technology in modern power plants, and the study of advanced production technologies in the field of power engineering.

The Department of Internal Combustion Engines has a specialized academic council for the defense of doctoral and candidate degree in the specialties 05.05.03 “Engines and Power Plants” and 05.22.02 “Automobiles and Tractors”.

The Department publishes the All-Ukrainian scientific and technical journal “Internal Combustion Engines” and is a co-founder and organizer of the annual International Congress of Engine Engineers.

The Department’s scientists actively participate in International conferences in Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland, and Germany. The Department is the organizer of the All-Ukrainian Competition of Student Scientific Papers in Specialty 142 “Power Engineering”.
