On December 27, 2024, an online meeting was held with students from Lyceums No. 32 and No. 80 in Kharkiv. The event was organized as part of the career guidance efforts of the Department of Electric Transport and Diesel Locomotive Engineering (ETT) at the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” (NTU “KhPI”).
Cooperation agreements between these lyceums and NTU “KhPI” were signed a year ago. According to these agreements, the department fulfills its obligations annually by holding meetings with graduating and pre-graduating students to inform them about new admission rules, preparation strategies, successful passing of the National Multidisciplinary Test (NMT), and other important developments in the educational landscape of the country.
This year was no exception, despite the challenges of current realities in Kharkiv. The meeting, which was prepared over two weeks, was successfully held!
The attendees were first given comprehensive information about the ETT Department’s specializations. At the request of the students, the faculty also provided details about other NTU “KhPI” programs outside the ETT Department. The students of Lyceum No. 80 were particularly active during the meeting, showing a lively interest in engineering specialties.
During the event, students were introduced to the updated university admission rules for 2025 in Ukraine. They received detailed explanations of effective preparation techniques and strategies for passing the NMT. The intricacies of the NMT process were thoroughly explained to them.
After the New Year holidays, if circumstances permit, a guided tour of the NTU “KhPI” campus is tentatively planned. This will allow the students to see the university’s academic buildings, the new modern library, and the campus, which features various technical models developed with the involvement of NTU “KhPI” staff.
The students were also informed about opportunities for parallel studies abroad through exchange programs or dual degree programs with European educational institutions in countries like Poland and Germany.
The event concluded with an engaging quiz on railway transport and railway infrastructure. The winners of the quiz received memorable prizes from the department.
On behalf of the department and the entire NTU “KhPI,” we extend our gratitude for the excellent organization of the meeting to Yevheniia Olehivna Shylovanova, Deputy Director for Educational and Extracurricular Activities at Lyceum No. 80, Kharkiv.
