Lecture 1. Foundations of Quality Management: Understanding the idea, principles and current challenges.

This lecture explores the main ideas, principles, and scientific concepts behind modern Quality Management. The lecture will address what “quality” truly means for organizations, how value is created from the customer’s perspective, and why process orientation and continuous improvement are essential for operational excellence, reliability, efficiency, and long-term competitiveness.

Lecture 2. Process Quality: Designing, Measuring, and Improving Organizational Processes

This lecture will explain how process quality can be achieved and maintained as a key driver of operational excellence. Students will learn what a process is, how value flows through an organization, and why stable, efficient, and well-designed processes are essential for customer satisfaction and economic performance. The lecture will also highlight modern approaches to process improvement, including Lean Management, Six Sigma, and digital process automation. The lecturer will demonstrate how organizations increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve service quality by systematically analyzing and optimizing their processes.

Hartmut Heinrich Meyer (BA Hons Business Administration, BA Hons Business Law, Master of Philosophy, Ph.D.) is a management consultant and a lecturer. His recent research focuses on the promotion of entrepreneurship in innovation-driven countries. His academic interest aims to better understand the challenges of fostering entrepreneurship in advanced economies. His work has recently received considerable attention at various international conferences. Other research interests include turnaround management and the challenges faced by family businesses in the tourism industry.

• Comenius University Bratislava – Ph.D. in Management
