Participation of representatives of the department in the X International Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists and Students “Time of Challenges and Opportunities: Problems, Solutions, Prospects” of the Baltic International Academy (Republic of Latvia)

The academic staff and students of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Social Systems Management named after Academician I.A. Zyazyun, headed by the Head of the Department, Professor O.G. Romanovskyi, took an active part in the X International Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists and Students “Time of Challenges and Opportunities: Problems, Solutions, Prospects” as invited speakers. The conference was organised and held by the Baltic International Academy (Riga, Latvia) on 15 May 2020. According to previous agreements with the BMA, it was assumed that representatives of our department would take a direct part in the scientific and communicative event, but due to the restrictive quarantine measures, both on the part of NTU “KPI” and the BMA, it became impossible for the delegation of the PPUSS department to visit the BMA. Holding the conference online not only did not affect the high quality of the scientific and communicative event, but also helped to increase the audience of its participants.
The scientific and practical conference was attended by:
– Prof. Romanovskyi O.G. and Prof. Moroz V.M. (welcoming speech to the conference participants, as well as presentation to the international scientific community of the achievements of the PPUSS Department and the areas of research of students and postgraduate students of the Department);
– Prof. N. Pidbutska, Associate Professor A. Knysh and Associate Professor Y. Chebakova (report “The self-esteem of the IT manager as the basis for the success of the organisation”);
– senior lecturer Kostyria I.V. (report “Leadership position as a predictor of professional success of a future teacher of higher education”);
Master’s student K.O. Bandelet (report “Formation of communicative culture of future lecturers of higher education”).

The organizers of the scientific and practical conference were interested in the opinion of Prof. Romanovskyi on the possibility of establishing cooperation between students of the PPUSS and BMA departments within the framework of developing joint research topics. In addition, the management of the BMA drew attention to the outstanding activity of I.V. Kostyrya in discussing the issues of the conference throughout its duration. Along with scientists from Ukraine, delegations from Poland, the Czech Republic, the Russian Federation, etc. took part in the scientific and communication event.

An agreement was signed with the Baltic International Academy on joint training of bachelors

Realizing the potential of international cooperation in the organization of training of specialists with higher education, the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Social Systems Management of NTU “KPI” became an active participant in the process of preparation and signing of an agreement with the Baltic International Academy (Riga, Latvia) on joint training of bachelors under the program of two-degree bachelor’s education in the field of “Psychology”. The relevant agreement was signed between NTU “KPI” and BMA on 10.05.2016. During the signing ceremony, the Rector of NTU “KPI”, Professor Sokol E. I. drew attention not only to the importance of developing international cooperation between academic departments of universities, but also to the need to offer students fundamentally new in their content and directions of implementation of the prospects for individual development. During the negotiations that preceded the signing of the Agreement, the Head of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Social Systems Management of NTU “KPI”, Professor O. Romanovskyi drew attention to the fact that the agreement prepared for signing is not the first one, because the department has and successfully implements a similar agreement with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – SWPS (Warsaw, Poland).

According to Professor Romanovskyi, cooperation with the BMA has certain advantages in comparison with the SWPS, the most significant of which are

– the possibility of obtaining a European diploma for a relatively affordable price without a long break from studying at NTU KhPI;

– Bachelor’s degree program in psychology is implemented in BMA in Russian and English;

– adaptation of students in Latvia (Riga) does not require a long stay within the relevant society, and therefore there is a real opportunity to start full-fledged training from the first days of staying at the BMA;

– successful results of adaptation of educational traditions of the Scandinavian countries to the conditions of development of higher education in the post-Soviet space;

– Almost all citizens of the Republic of Latvia understand and speak Russian, which greatly simplifies and increases the effectiveness of intercultural communication, both in the context of educational activities and in solving everyday issues (shopping, household organization, etc.)

– well-developed transport links and affordable transport fares make it possible to visit other EU countries (Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, etc.).

After signing the agreement on joint training of bachelors under the program of two-degree bachelor’s education in Psychology, the Chairman of the BMA Senate, Professor Buka S.A, drew attention to the significant contribution of the teaching staff of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Social Systems Management of NTU “KPI” (Professors Romanovskyi O.G., Moroz V.M., Gura T.V.) both to the development of cooperation between NTU “KPI” and BMA in general and directly to the process of drafting the signed agreement. In addition, Professor Buka S.A. suggested that the management of NTU “KPI” consider other areas of academic cooperation between universities, namely:

– joint participation in the preparation of applications for the organization and conduct of research funded by international grants;

– participation of representatives of each university in scientific and communication events initiated by the partner university;

– deepening the areas of cooperation between the universities, including by increasing the level of mobility of students and teachers at each university.

The signing ceremony was followed by an exchange of views on the prospects for its practical implementation and ways to promote the program among students. More information about the meeting of Professor Buka with the administration of NTU “KPI” is available on the official website of NTU “KPI” http://www.kpi.kharkov.ua/ru/news/view/?id=821
