On September 21, 2026, in the secure space of the Scientific and Technical Library, a meeting took place between the candidate for the position of rector of NTU “KhPI”, Vice-Rector Mygushchenko RP, with employees of the NNI SGT, EMMB, and MO.
Employees of the Law Department joined this event.
The conversation turned out to be truly meaningful and, most importantly, very specific. We talked about what the university is facing today, what already needs to change, and what decisions should determine the development of KhPI in the coming years. It is precisely such meetings that provide an opportunity not just to talk about the future of the university, but to shape it together with colleagues.
One of the key topics is digitalization. Modern NTU “KhPI” needs modern university databases, reliable server infrastructure, convenient digital services and a single information environment. And here it is fundamentally important that technologies work for people. They should reduce the number of unnecessary procedures, remove duplication, simplify the interaction of students and employees with the university and free up time for education, science and development.
The quality of education also needs to be approached systematically. We talked about accreditation, the development of educational programs, blended learning, and offline consultations for students who are currently in Kharkiv. NTU “KhPI” should use the best opportunities of online education, but at the same time gradually return the living university environment where conditions allow. Laboratories, direct work with students, discussions, team projects, and communication with teachers remain an important part of true university education.
Separately, they talked about the role of humanitarian education in a technical university. A strong technical university cannot exist without a humanitarian component. You can teach a person to work with the most complex technologies, but a university must form much more. Critical thinking, communication, leadership, responsibility, understanding of society and the ability to work with people. It is the combination of engineering, economics, management and humanitarian education that makes a university truly a university. And this is one of the strengths of NTU “KhPI”, which must not be lost, but developed.
A separate and very important conversation was about science. About postgraduate studies, budget places, young scientists, the development of scientific schools and our publications. NTU “KhPI” has a powerful scientific foundation, but today it is not enough just to preserve what has been created for decades. It is necessary to create conditions under which a young scientist sees his future in NTU “KhPI”, has opportunities for professional development, participation in grants, international projects and modern research. It is also important to support our scientific publications, improve their quality and international visibility, and consistently work on their presence in Scopus and Web of Science.
They also talked about leadership. A modern university should not only transfer knowledge. It should create an environment in which people are not afraid to show initiative, take responsibility, create new projects, unite teams and lead them forward. It is with such people that real change begins.
And this is precisely the strength of Kharkiv Polytechnic University. In the combination of technical education and humanitarian thinking, fundamental science and modern technologies, strong traditions and readiness for change.
