Conference “National Health and the Improvement of Physical and Sports Education”

Sports and Educational Innovations, International Experience, and Academic Discussions: Proceedings of the 6th International Scientific and Practical Conference “National Health and the Improvement of Physical Education and Sports”

On April 15–16, 2026, the Department of Physical Education at the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” hosted a landmark scientific event—the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference “National Health and the Improvement of Physical Education and Sports.” The event was dedicated to the memory of A. G. Lyubiev.

This year’s conference, held online, brought together over 250 participants. The research community was represented by leading scientists (doctors and candidates of sciences, PhDs), graduate students, coaches, professional athletes, rehabilitation specialists, medical professionals, sports managers, and others.

The international status of the event was confirmed by the participation of scientists and sports practitioners from many countries, including the United States (Stanford University), Italy (Real Basket Amateur Sports Association), Serbia (University for Peace established by the UN), Georgia (Georgian State University of Sport), as well as partners from Latvia, Lithuania, and Azerbaijan.

The conference program covered five strategic sections addressing current challenges:

  1. Health-promoting and health-preserving technologies, innovative approaches in recreation and rehabilitation.
  2. Professional and youth sports.
  3. Current trends in physical education for various population groups.
  4. Training of specialists in the field of physical education and sports

The conference served not merely as a platform for presentations, but as a vibrant environment for sharing experiences, engaging in lively discussions, and seeking new partners. We are confident that the ideas presented will form the foundation for the implementation of ambitious projects aimed at improving the nation’s health and modernizing sports education in Ukraine and around the world.

The Department of Physical Education extends its sincere gratitude to the leadership of NTU “KhPI” for their comprehensive support of scientific initiatives and the development of international partnerships.

We express our deepest gratitude to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, whose courage enables the scientific community to continue its work, hold events, and strive for the future of our country.

📜 Conference History: Traditions and Challenges

Our conference is a chronicle of the development of sports science within the walls of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute. Over the years, it has become a platform for international exchange of experience, despite all external challenges.

Chronology of Development:

  • 2014–2018: Establishing a Tradition. Three All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conferences (III, IV, V) were held, bringing together leading experts from Ukraine.
  • 2019: Going International. The 1st International Conference was held in partnership with the H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University, Kharkiv National Medical University, and the National Forestry Academy of Ukraine.
  • 2020: The conference did not take place due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and the imposition of strict quarantine restrictions.
  • 2021: Return to work. Successful hosting of the 2nd International Conference in an online format.
  • 2022: The event was canceled due to the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The sports complex sustained significant damage, so the department focused on restoring sports facilities, supporting students, and volunteer activities.
  • 2023–2024: Resumption of scientific activity. The 3rd and 4th International Conferences underscored the resilience of Ukrainian science.
  • 2025: The 5th International Conference, dedicated to the 140th anniversary of NTU “KhPI,” set a record for the number of international participants.
  • 2026: We are preparing to host the 6th International Conference, which continues to develop the nation’s scientific potential.
