International Research Activities of Professor Tetiana Shmatko of the Department of Higher Mathematics
Tetiana Valentynivna Shmatko, Professor in the Department of Higher Mathematics, is actively involved in international research collaboration and is responsible for implementing the international NATO project G6176 “Composite Metamaterials for Aerospace Structures” (CoMetA), carried out under the NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme.

An important milestone in presenting her research findings to the international scientific community was Tetiana Shmatko’s participation in two leading international conferences on nonlinear and structural dynamics, NODYCON 2026 and EURODYN 2026, held in Italy and Germany in September – October 2026.
20-23 September 2026: Tetiana Shmatko attended the 5th International Nonlinear Dynamics Conference (NODYCON 2026), held at Sapienza University of Rome (Rome, Italy), in person. A research presentation entitled “Study of geometrically nonlinear vibrations of sandwich shallow shells with auxetic honeycomb core and porous FGM faces” was delivered at the conference. The study examined shallow sandwich shells with an auxetic honeycomb core and porous face sheets made of functionally graded material (FGM). NODYCON brings together an international community of researchers in nonlinear dynamics, vibrations and the stability of mechanical systems. Its scientific traditions are rooted in the nonlinear vibration research initiated by Professor Ali H. Nayfeh at Virginia Tech in 1986. In 2026, the conference brought together more than 450 researchers from around the world. The programme included plenary lectures, thematic minisymposia and scientific sessions devoted to recent advances and promising research directions in nonlinear dynamics.

27 September – 1 October 2026: Tetiana Shmatko also attended the 13th International Conference on Structural Dynamics (EURODYN 2026), held in the historic Welfenschloss building of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University Hannover (Hannover, Germany), in person. EURODYN is an important international scientific forum devoted to theoretical, numerical and experimental research in structural dynamics and the practical application of its findings. Approximately 350 researchers from different countries participated in the conference. As part of the scientific programme, Tetiana Shmatko delivered a presentation entitled “Buckling and free vibration analysis of sandwich plates with auxetic honeycomb core”. The research presented at the conferences addressed current challenges in the mechanics of advanced composite materials and metamaterials, particularly the mathematical modelling of vibrations and stability of multilayer plates and shells with auxetic structures.
Participation in NODYCON 2026 and EURODYN 2026 enabled research findings to be presented and discussed internationally, facilitated the exchange of experience with leading experts, strengthened international research contacts and raised the international profile of research conducted by the Department of Higher Mathematics.
