Mobility of students, graduate students and lecturers of the CEP Department under the DAAD program

Since 1998, Ukraine has been actively participating in the programs of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), one of the world’s largest educational organizations that provides mobility for students, graduate students and teachers, and provides an opportunity for talented young people from all over the world to undergo scientific internships or improve their qualifications in Germany.

To date, there are a number of programs for students: scholarships for bachelors, masters, postgraduates. Details of this scholarship are generally available at the end of January each year. Applications are accepted from February to the end of March. The program also finances internships for Ukrainian scientists in German universities for teaching. DAAD also finances joint projects between higher educational institutions in Ukraine and Germany (www.daad.de).

In the autumn semester of 2022, the Department of Computer Engineering and Programming of NTU “KhPI” took part in the Wildau-Kharkiv IT Bridge project of the DAAD program “Digital Ukraine: Ensuring Academic Success in Crisis”. The project is organized by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD and the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau. The students of the CEP department attended free of charge bachelor’s and master’s courses (“Programming”, “Computer Architecture”, “Computer Networks”, “Embedded Systems”, “Fundamentals of Game Development”, “Theory of Translators Construction”) in the field of information technology, specialty 123 “Computer Engineering” in Ukrainian and English and received international certificates.

As part of the project, Professor of the Department of Computer Engineering and Programming Svetlana Gavrilenko visited the Wildau Technical University of Applied Sciences and delivered a lecture “Machine Learning. Ensemble methods for data classification. She also met with Kai Franke, head of the DAAD Berlin office in Berlin, where issues of further cooperation were discussed.

At present, the Wildau-Kharkiv IT Bridge project of the DAAD program “Digital Ukraine: Ensuring Academic Success in Crisis” has been extended to 2023, since cooperation with Ukraine is especially important today. Additional funding has been provided to support German higher education institutions cooperating with Ukrainian partner universities.
