THE FUNDAMENTALS

The Department of Foreign Languages ​​of NTU “KhPI” provides comprehensive training for bachelors, masters and postgraduates in English, German and French. For this purpose, the department employs 33 teachers, including 10 candidates of sciences; 4 associate professors of the Higher Attestation Commission. The teachers of the department take an active part in scientific events in Ukraine and the world, publish their research in leading journals. Methodological publications developed by the teachers of the department are actively used in classes. In order to exchange experience, the department cooperates with similar departments of other universities in Kharkov and Ukraine, maintains contacts with foreign educational institutions. Every year the department organizes and holds an interuniversity student conference in foreign languages ​​”Science looks ahead”.

Graduates of NTU “KhPI”, who studied in particular at our Department of Foreign Languages, successfully use the knowledge they have acquired in their work, both scientific and applied. Many of them are employed in strategically important enterprises in Ukraine and have contracts with foreign companies.

THE VIEW OF THE TASKS

We see our task as providing assistance to students and employees of NTU “KhPI” in learning foreign languages. To do this, we apply the latest interactive teaching methods, including the use of computer technologies, have mastered the methodology of distance learning and student knowledge control, which became urgent during the COVID-19 pandemic and remains relevant during the period of martial law. Our teaching priority is practice-oriented: we try to ensure that the knowledge we share becomes a serious foundation for students and young scientists and a significant support on their career path.

THE OBJECTIVE

The objective of the Department of Foreign Languages ​​of NTU “KhPI” is to provide high-quality education for undergraduates, masters and postgraduates in the field of studying English, German and French. We strive to ensure that future specialists trained by our teachers have a sufficient level of foreign language competence for confident communication in their chosen professional field, in particular, they have mastered communicative skills, skills in creating and analyzing scientific texts in foreign languages, and have mastered specialized terminology related to their specialty.
