Teachers of the Department of Natural Sciences took part in the XVI annual international conference on practical science “HSCI`2019” (Hands-on Science), which brought together teachers, methodologists, popularizers of science, students from about 15 countries (USA, Portugal, Great Britain , Spain, Japan, Czech Republic, India, Ukraine, etc.).
Students from Turkey who completed pre-university studies at the Faculty of International Education of NTU “KhPI” this year express their gratitude to the teachers and invite foreigners to study at our university.
Foreign students of the pre-university stage of study pass an exam in mathematics in order to obtain a certificate of completion of this stage of study. In the future, they will study at NTU “KhPI” and other universities in Ukraine.
06/10/2019, at the Department of Natural Sciences a scientific-methodical seminar “Technology automation testing of students” was held. The report was presented by associate professor, Ph.D. Lazareva O.Y.
The technology of preparing materials for creating tests and control tasks for foreign students of the pre-university stage of preparation with the help of Google Forms was discussed.
All seminar participants tested the technology under discussion, creating the first test test in their discipline and testing it in their work.
On May 2, 2019, the Faculty of International Education (pre-university training) was visited by Doctor of Technical Science, Dean of institute of education and science in Engineering and Physics Larin Aleksey Aleksandrovich. He informed audience about the Institute headed by him and presented the Department of Computer Simulation of Processor Systems and the Department of Machine Dynamics and Durability.
Also, the Faculty of International Education (pre-university training) was visited by representatives of seven departments of institute of education and science in power engineering electronics and electromechanics: engineering electrophysics, steam generator engineering, electrical power transmission, turbine engineering, electrical machines, power plants, electrical transport and diesel locomotive engineering.

The students received different advertisements for departments and institutes, listened to the proposed presentations with interest, got acquainted with the experimental stands and received answers to their questions.
April 18, 2019 at the Faculty of International Education was held the 27th Interuniversity Scientific Practical Conference of foreign students of preparatory faculties “The role of science in the development of society”, which was attended by guests – teachers and students of twelve leading universities in Kharkov, as well as graduate students and students 1 –3 courses of NTU “KhPI”. Students from sixteen countries presented interesting reports, demonstrated excellent knowledge of scientific style of speech in Ukrainian, English and Russian languages and the ability to engage in dialogue with the audience and answer questions about the topic of the report.

Dean of the Faculty of International Education NTU “KhPI” Associate Professor Kudiy D.A. opened the plenary session of the conference, which was attended by over 150 participants. There were made eight reports from various fields of science and technology. It was the first time when the conference was co-hosted by a student at the pre-university stage of training Dogru Tolga (Turkey), who successfully accomplished this role.
The conference included four sections: “Natural Sciences”, “Information and Medical Sciences”, “Social Humanities” and the section where reports were presented in English. The reports were accompanied by colorful presentations and demonstration experiments.

Scientific-practical conferences for foreign students are bright events, where students present their reports in an interesting, interactive, visual form that creates a festive atmosphere and a great mood.

On April 16, 2019, students of the Faculty of International Education took part in the XVIII interuniversity scientific-practical conference for foreign students of Ukrainian preparatory departments “Path to Science: First Steps”, which was held at the National Pharmacy University. The report “Nanotechnology in our life” was made by the student Dogru Tolga (Turkey), NTU “KhPI”, group №11. He emphasized that nanotechnology is a priority direction in the development of science and introduced the participants of the conference with new achievements of scientists of NTU “KhPI”.
On April 12, 2019, a virtual laboratory work on physics among foreign students was conducted at the Department of Natural Sciences under the guidance of a senior lecturer, Ph.D. Menshikova S.I. The lesson was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of International Education, Associate Professor, Ph.D. Kudiy DA, Head of the Department of Natural Sciences, Prof., Ph.D. Lapuzina E.N. and other teachers of the department.

Virtual laboratory work was devoted to determining body weight using lever weights. This was the first work that students of groups 11 and 12 carried out as part of the curriculum in physics of the pre-university form of education.

At the lesson there were 14 students who successfully coped with the tasks set in the work. It is remarkable that the majority of students coped with the introductory testing, experiments and the formulation of conclusions independently, for example, a student of group 11 Eren Atakan Dolgan (Turkey). All students have mastered the rule of leverage and the basic principles for determining unknown body mass. This was achieved through the implementation of a virtual laboratory work developed by senior lecturer, Menshikova S.I. in game form. All students received excellent grades.

On April 1, 2019 at the Department of Natural Sciences a meeting of the youth scientific association of students (medical direction) was held. The theme was “Microscopic methods of research in biology.” Students learned how to prepare microscopic preparations from plants and human tissues and examine them with a microscope, and also they studied the differences in the structure of plant and animal cells.
Students worked enthusiastically and with great interest. Such research work will expand the knowledge of theoretical material and help students to prepare for classes in biology.
The distance course “Mathematics for Foreigners” (authored by Prof. Lapuzina O.M.) received a certificate of the Problem Laboratory of Distance Learning at NTU “KhPI” and is actively used in the educational process.
