About the Department
The Department of Marketing is the leading department of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Economics, Management and International Business, which trains highly qualified future experts in Economics and Marketing according to the new State Standards of Higher Education of Ukraine for all types of economic activity, state administration and local self-government at three levels of higher education: Bachelor, Master and PhD, in full-time and part-time (distance) forms of study according to specialties (educational programs): 051 Economy (Digital Economy); 075 Marketing (EP Marketing, EP Advertising Business)
25 years of training marketers at NTU “KhPI”
When Ukraine gaining independence in 1991, the development of the national market economy began. This caused an urgent need for specialists who ensure its functioning, in particular, in the fields of management and marketing.
In 1991, NTU KhPI opened the Department of Management (headed by Prof. L.M. Ivin ), which started training students in the specialty “Management of Organizations” (educational and professional direction “Management”). In 1995, on the basis of this department, the Faculty of Economics was created (Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Professor P.H. Pererva), 5 graduate departments of which trained students in the areas of ” Management of Organizations” specialty.
In 1993, Doctor of Economics, Professor P.H. Pererva published the first marketing training manual in Ukraine, “Marketing Management at a Machine-Building Enterprise”.
Since 1996, the Department of System Analysis and Management (head of the the Department Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor L.H. Raskin ) and the Department of Automated Control Systems (head of the Department Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor M.D. Godlevskyi) have started training students in the specialty “Information Systems in Management” in the educational and professional direction of “Management”.
In September 1996, the first issue of the first Professional Marketing Journal in Ukraine “Marketing and Advertising”, was released by Doctor of Economics, Professor P.H. Pererva. Today, it is the leading international specialized journal on Marketing.
In 1997, the Ukrainian Marketing Association (UAM) was established. Doctor of Economics, Professor V.Ya. Zaruba , who is currently a member of the Council of the Association, the head of its Kharkiv branch, a member of the editorial board of the journal “Marketing in Ukraine”. Since 2005 , UAM became an official member of ESOMAR (European Society of Marketing Research Professionals) — the European Association of Public Opinion and Marketing Researchers — one of the most famous and respected research associations in the world) and the European Marketing Confederation.
From the 1997/98 academic year, the training of professional marketers began in the “Industrial Marketing” specialty at the Department of Economics and Marketing (head of the Department Professor A.I. Yakovlev) and in the “Marketing” specialty at the Department of Economic Cybernetics and Marketing Management (head of the Department Professor V.Ya. Zaruba) .
During 2000-2020, the Department of Economic Cybernetics and Marketing Management carried out a total of about 20 applied developments under contracts with enterprises and 5 research works with state budget funding from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 5 doctoral theses and 14 candidate theses were carried out.
Under the scientific supervision of Doctor of Economics, Professor P.H. Pererva 38 candidate’s and 4 doctor’s theses were carried out
In 2019, the Department of Economics and Marketing and the Department of Economic Cybernetics and Marketing Management became part of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Economics, Management and International Business (ESI EMIB). At the end of 2021 (Scientific Council of KhPI NTU, Minutes 11, dated 26.11.2021 and Order No. 522OD dated 26.11.2021 “On the reorganization of structural divisions of NTU KhPI, Order No. 596 OD dated 22.12.2021 “On changes in the management of structural divisions of the university”), the decision was made to create a single department of marketing on the basis of these two departments, Doctor of Economics, Professor D.V. Rayko.
The Department of Marketing of NTU “KhPI” employs highly qualified specialists who teach disciplines at a high level, are authors of many scientific publications and have their own methodological developments. Since January, 2022, there have been 5 Doctors of Science, Professors and 16 PhDs, Associate Professors among the scientific and pedagogical staff.
All lecturers regularly improve the level of their knowledge, develop competences and undergo advanced training.
