We were lucky to participate in the ECIU and INTERACT projects by EU GREEN, in which teachers from Ukrainian universities joined the best European practices of SMART education, research, and business development.
The European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), founded in 1997, is a network of universities with international renown for their experience in innovative education, research, knowledge exchange, and management in higher education.
Fourteen members of the consortium share a strong commitment to entrepreneurship, innovative forms of teaching and learning and high-quality research. Working together and learning from each other the ECIU universities strive for scientific and educational excellence which will have a real impact on business and society.
In September 2023, rector Yevhen Sokol, head of the international department Oleksandr Goncharov, and head of the department of management Olena Prokhorenko participated in the INTERACT project. The following topics were presented at the session: identifying opportunities in Horizon Europe; Strategic ties at the European level; and Offers of NAWA (National Agency for Academic Exchanges, Poland) for Ukraine.
October 2023, Nataliya Shiyan, professor of the Department of Management of NTU “KhPI”, took part in the scientific conference ECIU University Research Conference, which was held in Spain, at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).
The conference dealt with issues in the fields of energy and sustainable development, circular economy, transport and mobility, and community development. Thus, among the interesting points of the event, we can note discussions about the problems that arise when expanding the use of electric trucks in logistics systems, the problems of reducing the use of packaging, and creating a system for the return and secondary use of household goods, etc.
The training “Innovative methods of teaching and learning (T&L) with coaching” at the Technology University of Lodz (Poland) was attended by associate professors of the Department of Management Olena Chaikova and Natalia Shiryaeva. The training included – methods of active learning, useful tools for active interaction with students; – introduction to problem/challenge-based learning; – assessment of learning results; – coaching as an effective teaching and learning strategy.
We gained knowledge about the current educational trends and methods used in European universities, in order to prepare for the improvement and development of higher education in Ukraine.
November 8-10, Nataliya Shmatko, professor of the Department of Management, and director of the Spark startup center of KhPI NTU, took part in the ECIU4UKRAINE seminar at the University of Twente (Enschede, the Netherlands). The purpose of the three-day seminar was to inform the participants and exchange knowledge on various topics of higher education in the EU.
From December 4-6, Olena Prokhorenko and Nataliya Shiyan took part in training and workshops on “Micro-credentials” and “Challenge-based learning”. The program was very rich, interesting, and useful, we are very grateful for the organization and support, of Dr. Dorothy Piotrovska, as well as to the entire professional team of the International Cooperation Center of TUL (Technology University of Lodz (Poland).
At the end of the project, a final conference was held, at which representatives of 10 universities of Ukraine outlined the challenges of the current state of Ukrainian higher education and proposals for further development.
We consider participation in this project very useful, in particular for our department. We strive to develop and share new SMART learning practices!
