On 10 September 2025, a scientific landing party of leading historians from Kyiv and Vinnytsia visited Kharkiv to present the book by Professor V. Otamanovskyi, published by Oleksandr Savchuk’s publishing house, Cities of Right-Bank Ukraine in the Second Half of the 17th and 18th Centuries. Valentyn Atamanovsky (1893-1964) was a repressed hero of the Ukrainian national liberation struggle of 1918-1919, and later an outstanding scholar of a wide humanitarian and encyclopaedic spectrum, a polyglot and an organiser of science. The last years of his life he worked in Kharkiv, where he is buried. For a long time, his work was considered lost.
The event was attended by professors of the Department Ihor Robak and Mykhailo Krasikov. I. Robak, who is the author of a solid scientific work dedicated to the professor, including a monograph that reconstructs his life and work, addressed the audience. He highlighted the work of Kharkiv local historians in preserving the memory of this outstanding figure in Ukrainian history and informed his colleagues about another mysteriously lost work from the creative heritage of the coryphaeus of Ukrainian local history.
