ATSEM Department Participates in a STEAM Career Guidance Event for Students of Kharkiv Lyceum No. 105!

On October 20, representatives of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” (NTU “KhPI”) held a STEAM career exploration event for 10th- and 11th-grade students from Kharkiv Lyceum No. 105.
The event took place in the assembly hall of an underground school and brought together approximately 60 high school students, introducing them to the university’s academic programs, modern technologies, and engineering fields.
The Department of Automation of Technological Systems and Environmental Monitoring (ATSEM) presented opportunities to study in the G7 field, “Automation, Computer-Integrated Technologies, and Robotics.”
Students were introduced to modern equipment from U.S.-based Horner Automation Group, provided to the university through the Horner Academic Program. They explored industrial controllers with integrated touchscreen operator interfaces. The ATSEM Department has established a dedicated teaching lab using this equipment, where university students will learn controller programming, operator interface development, and the setup and testing of automated control systems.
During the event, students learned about modern automation systems, engineering careers, and industrial applications of technology. The interactive format and exposure to actual industrial equipment helped them understand how science, mathematics, and computer science are applied in practice.
These events are an important part of the department’s outreach efforts ahead of the 2027 admissions cycle. They help prospective students make informed career choices and explore educational opportunities at NTU “KhPI.”
The ATSEM Department invites prospective students to discover the world of automation, modern technology, and engineering!
