This year, the Department of Ceramic, Refractory, Glass, and Enamel Technologies at the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” celebrates a remarkable milestone — its 100th anniversary. This jubilee is significant not only for the department’s faculty and staff but also for generations of alumni who began their professional journeys here and have remained connected with their Alma Mater throughout the years.
In preparation for the anniversary celebrations, extensive renovation and modernization work is underway to create a contemporary, comfortable, and functional educational and research environment. The initiative, led by Professor Olena Fedorenko, Head of the Department, was actively supported by Professor Liudmyla Shchukina and Ruslan Kryvobok, Head of the Research Department of NTU “KhPI”. Together, they united alumni, industrial partners, and the university community around a shared goal — to celebrate the department’s centennial with meaningful achievements.
Particularly valuable has been the enthusiastic support of our alumni, who have maintained strong ties with their Alma Mater long after graduation. Thanks to their generosity and commitment, the university received substantial donations of building materials that will significantly contribute to the ongoing renovation of university facilities.
The Department sincerely expresses its gratitude to everyone who contributed to this important initiative.
The donated materials will be used to renovate university buildings and departmental facilities, helping to improve the conditions for education, scientific research, and the professional training of future specialists.
A major contribution came from PJSC “Geberit Ceramic Production” (Slavuta), one of Ukraine’s leading manufacturers of sanitary ceramics. Through the company’s support, sanitary ware valued at approximately UAH 90,000 was donated to the university. The Department extends its sincere appreciation to Roman Panasenko, General Director, and Larysa Tkachuk, Executive Director, whose leadership made this support possible. We are equally grateful to our alumni Anna Bondar, Tetiana Bondar, and Oleh Pshevlotskyi, who are also members of the Geberit Ceramic Production team. Their participation clearly demonstrates that the bond with their department continues long after graduation, growing into lasting professional cooperation and mutual support.

Another significant contribution was made by PJSC “Epicentr Ceramic Corporation”. Thanks to the support of Serhii Plokhotiuk, Production Director, and Vitalii Tsovma, Technology Implementation Specialist for New Products and a graduate of our department, the university received 300 m² of porcelain stoneware tiles, which have become an essential part of the renovation of university facilities during the summer break.

This initiative represents far more than practical assistance in renovating university premises. It reflects the continuation of the department’s long-standing tradition of cooperation with its alumni and industrial partners. Such collaborative efforts strengthen professional relationships, foster strategic partnerships, and create new opportunities for educational, scientific, and industrial projects. The department remains committed to expanding these partnerships, preserving the continuity of generations, and engaging representatives of industry in future initiatives.
An equally important stage of this project was the transportation of the donated construction materials from production facilities located in the Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv regions to Kharkiv. We express our sincere gratitude to the leadership of NTU “KhPI”, particularly Vice-Rector Magomedyemin Gasanov and Vasyl Ivashchenko, for organizing the logistics and ensuring the timely delivery of all donated materials to the university.
The support provided by our alumni, industrial partners, and the university administration plays a vital role in the continued development of the department, the preservation of its century-long traditions, and the creation of a modern educational and research environment. Such united efforts strengthen the connection between generations, reinforce the university community, and enable us to move confidently toward the future.
