On January 13 and 16, teachers of the Department of Computer Modeling of Processes and Systems of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” held a series of popular science lectures for students of the Kharkiv Lyceum “Boyko’s Author’s School”

On January 13, the head of the department, Oksana Tatarinova, met with the students, and on January 16, senior lecturer Dmitry Karaman continued the lecture. The theme of the meetings was the evolution of thinking from humans to machines — “From ‘I think’ to ‘the machine thinks’: where is the line drawn?”

During the lectures, the students learned how the role of humans in the technological world has changed: from completely manual solutions to algorithms, automation, and modern intelligent systems. In an accessible and interactive way, they were shown what algorithmic thinking is, how computers work, and why modern technologies create the illusion of “machine thinking.”

Particular attention was paid to where exactly the line between human thinking and the computing power of machines lies. Students actively joined in discussions, participated in mini-games and experiments, which helped them feel the difference between intuitive human choice and algorithmic logic.

Such meetings contribute to the formation of a modern worldview in schoolchildren and motivate them to study computer science, programming, and engineering specialties.
