PASSPORT OF THE SPECIALTY 01.02.04 – MECHANICS OF DEFORMABLE SOLID BODY

Specialty Formula

A branch of science that develops and studies models of deformable media, creates methods for solving problems of deformation and fracture of solid bodies under static and dynamic mechanical loads, as well as under the influence of thermal, electromagnetic, and other physical fields, and also addresses specific problems of both theoretical and practical interest.

Research Areas

  • General theory of deformable media models.
  • Theory of elasticity, including general issues of applied elasticity theory.
  • Theory of plasticity.
  • Theory of viscoelasticity and creep.
  • Mechanics of polymers and composite materials.
  • Fracture mechanics.
  • Theory of aero-hydroelasticity.
  • Development and study of models for problems of experimental mechanics of deformable solids, mechanics of granular materials, and biomechanics.

Note: the use of methods of deformable solid mechanics to solve problems that belong to other specialties is not grounds for classifying a dissertation as belonging to specialty 01.02.04 – Mechanics of Deformable Solid Body.

Field of Science in Which Academic Degrees Are Awarded:

physical and mathematical sciences.
