On May 22, 2026, the scientific festival “Science Day” took place at the Separate Structural Unit “Poltava Polytechnic Professional College of NTU “KhPI” in the city of Poltava. The event brought together school students from Poltava, college students, teachers, representatives of partner enterprises, and numerous guests.
The festival was held in the format of a STEAM event at the college premises located at 83-A Yuliana Matviichuka Street. Special thematic locations and demonstration areas were organized on the first floor of the college for the participants and visitors.
The event began with welcoming remarks by Ruslan Pavlovych Myhushchenko — Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, First Vice-Rector of NTU “KhPI,” and Full Member of the Academy of Metrology of Ukraine. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of promoting science and technical education among young people and wished the participants inspiration, new knowledge, and professional growth.
After that, representatives of partner enterprises and the Director of the Separate Structural Unit “Poltava Polytechnic Professional College of NTU “KhPI,” Oleksandr Serhiiovych Pitiakov, addressed the audience. During the official ceremony, he presented certificates of appreciation and awards to the college’s best students for their academic achievements and active participation in student life.
The festive atmosphere was enriched by a performance of the choir “Kozachenky.” Accompanied by an accordion, the young performers sang Ukrainian folk songs that were warmly welcomed by the audience.
Following the official part of the event, STEM activities and interactive exhibitions began. The Department of Electric Transport and Diesel Locomotive Engineering of NTU “KhPI” presented demonstration models of a diesel locomotive and a solar-powered train, which attracted considerable interest among school students and prospective applicants.
Representatives of the department communicated with visitors and answered questions regarding admission and the specifics of studying in the department’s specialties. Dmytro Ihorovych Yakunin spoke with guests about the advantages of studying at NTU “KhPI,” the university’s modern facilities and laboratories, opportunities for scientific research, and career prospects in the fields of railway transport and electrical engineering. Promotional brochures of the department were also distributed among visitors.
The department’s participation in the festival became an excellent opportunity to promote technical education, demonstrate modern engineering developments, and inspire young people to pursue specialties related to transport engineering and energy technologies.
