Successful Completion of the Unified State Qualification Examination (USQE) by Students of Specialty 273 “Railway Transport”: 100% Pass Rate
The Department of Electric Transport and Diesel Locomotive Engineering of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” is pleased to announce the successful completion of the first stage of certification for students pursuing the first (Bachelor’s) level of higher education in Specialty 273 “Railway Transport”.
In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 497 dated May 19, 2021, and following the schedule approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Unified State Qualification Examination (USQE) was held on April 2, 2026. For students of our specialty, passing this examination is a mandatory requirement for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree diploma.
Examination Organization
The examination was conducted in the format of online computer-based testing in Ukrainian. The process was organized in compliance with all security requirements under martial law conditions, as well as modern standards of knowledge assessment:
- Format: A 120-minute test consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions with one correct answer out of four options.
- Control: Independent proctoring in each classroom, video monitoring, and remote administration were provided.
- Safety: The specific requirements of martial law were taken into account. In the event of an air raid alert, participants were required to move to a shelter and, if the interruption lasted less than three hours, continue the examination afterward.
At the department, 13 students specializing in 273.1 “Traction Rolling Stock” were admitted and registered for the examination. We are proud to report that all students successfully passed the USQE on their first attempt.

All scores were converted to a normalized scale (from 200 to 400), allowing for an objective comparison of students’ professional training levels.
Why Is This Important?
The USQE for Specialty 273 is mandatory in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Successful completion of the examination confirms that our graduates meet unified national educational quality standards.
The examination result is included in the European-style diploma supplement, significantly facilitating its international recognition in accordance with the Bologna Process and increasing the competitiveness of our graduates in the labor market, particularly in the railway transport sector.
