Cherishing the native language: Margarita Verkhovets’ success at a prestigious language competition
The history of the Department of Intelligent Computer Systems has pages that remind us that our students are not only future IT specialists, but also true connoisseurs and guardians of their native language. ✍️✨
In November 2014, the regional stage of the XV International Ukrainian Language Competition named after Petro Yatsyk took place — one of the largest intellectual competitions aimed at raising the prestige of the Ukrainian language among young people. A first-year student of our department demonstrated a worthy result at the Kharkiv regional level:
🥈 2nd place — Margarita Verkhovets (group IF-84b)
This success of the first-year student is clear proof that the foundation of knowledge laid at the Department of Applied Linguistics allows students to succeed in tests of the highest level of difficulty. Knowledge of language as a system is the basis of the professional identity of an applied linguist, and Margarita has proven this in practice. 📚🏆
The Petro Yatsyk International Competition is known for its high standards of literacy, speech culture and creative approach. We are proud that every year, ICS students confirm their status as true Ukrainian intellectuals.
Our traditions are our strength! 💪
