🌟 Postgraduate student **Anzhelika Vorzhevytina** was named ‘Best Young Scientist at NTU “KhPI” 2025’.

📑 Senior Lecturer **Arseniy Khaziev** successfully defended his PhD thesis.

🇺🇸 Professor **Natalia Sharonova** supervised a new PhD graduate and published a guide on Amazon in the US!

👩‍🔬 Head of Department **Nadiya Babkova** represented the Institute of Chemical Engineering at the city’s STEM show to mark Women in Science Day, inspiring a new generation of researchers.

📚 Thanks to our partnership with UCU, our students have been working on practical linguistic projects based on the national ‘GRAK’ corpus under the supervision of Associate Professor Maria Shvedova.

🎤 The results of our research are being presented on the world stage, notably at the LREC 2026 international conference!

 🇪🇺 What’s more, our department is responsible for the Ukrainian component of the large-scale European project PressMint.

🇫🇷 And to draw inspiration from European culture, our lecturers joined the Bastille Day celebrations in Kharkiv alongside the French Ambassador.

🏛️ Master’s student **Arseniy Lukashevsky** has completed a prestigious six-month internship at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine!

🧠 We have also launched a unique interdisciplinary educational programme at the intersection of psychology and AI.

🖥️ To ensure learning is as effective as possible, we are constantly embracing digitalisation — Associate Professor **Maria Shvedova** led a methodological seminar on the latest approaches to creating interactive online courses.

🏫 Over the course of the year, the IKS team held dozens of brilliant sessions with school pupils in Kharkiv (from traditional lyceums to the legendary underground school 🚇), Lyubotyn, Balakliya, Merefa and other parts of the country.

 🤖💬 We taught young people, in a simple and fun way, how to create their own ChatGPT models, recognise psycholinguistic influences and translate memes that even artificial intelligence struggles to decipher 🎭🤪!

💻 Student buzz, practical experience and recognition

 🇬🇧 First-year students developed creative linguistics projects in English.

🐍 Third-year students wrote real software in Python for NLP tasks.

🤖 Fifth-year students mastered machine learning.

🎓 The year culminated in a stellar defence of bachelor’s and master’s theses. Incidentally, the master’s projects by our graduates **Yelyzaveta Lubenets** and **Viktoria Masliy** won silver awards at the university-wide competition 🥈🏆!
