The lecturers at the CMAD Department are true professionals, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience. More than 70% of them simultaneously work in IT companies, allowing students to acquire up-to-date knowledge and in-demand skills.
The CDIO concept is implemented through a sequence of integrated academic and real-world projects. Thus, project-based learning runs in parallel with theoretical studies, allowing students to develop soft skills, including: The CMAD Department actively collaborates with leading IT companies in Ukraine, ensuring a practical focus in education and the relevance of the knowledge acquired. Students undertake internships and practical training in research centers and R&D departments of top companies, working on real projects and modern technologies. Most of the department’s lecturers combine teaching with work in IT companies. As a result, students gain not only academic knowledge but also practical experience aligned with current market demands. Thanks to this, many students receive job offers even before graduation and gain a competitive advantage in employment.
Nearly a quarter of CMAD lecturers serve as coaches for teams that win international programming and mathematics Olympiads and tournaments.
Students have the opportunity to study at European universities through academic mobility programs. Each year, 2-5 top students can study at EU universities for periods ranging from 1 month to 1 semester. 🔹 Erasmus+ Mobility Programs (student exchange programs): ✅TECHNION (Israel) 🔹 Integrated Program with Aachen University (Germany) 📢 Starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, CMAD Department students can participate in the “Double Degree” program at Magdeburg University (Germany). Students have the opportunity to study at Ukrainian partner universities within the framework of academic mobility (without changing their educational program). This allows them to gain new experiences, become familiar with different teaching methods, and expand professional contacts. As part of the internal academic mobility program, students can study at: ✅ Odessa Polytechnic National University (Odessa) 📢 Academic results are recognized according to the ECTS system.
✅ University of Freiburg (Germany)
✅ Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences (Germany)
✅ National Technical University Dnipro Polytechnic (Dnipro)
At the CMAD Department, students not only study but also become part of an active community where it is easy to find like-minded peers and friends. Collaborative project work, participation in events, and informal interactions help build connections that are valuable both during studies and in future careers.
First-year students receive support through the student mentorship program. Senior students help them adapt to studies, navigate schedules, handle documentation, and get involved in student life. Mentorship from lecturers and IT experts provides students with professional guidance, opportunities to develop real-world cases, and the chance to grow in their chosen field. Students of the department actively participate in national and international IT competitions: ✅Programming and Mathematics Olympiads (ICPC, Eolymp Cup, University Cup, All-Ukrainian Student Olympiads, Programming Grand Prix, etc.) Participation in these events helps students develop technical skills and teamwork abilities. For many, it is also an opportunity to showcase their talents and gain recognition among employers. Students of the department participate in inter-university projects and educational initiatives that open new opportunities in AI and Data Science. ✅ML WEEK – an inter-university winter school where students from different universities work in mixed teams on real AI and Data Science projects. These activities help students gain valuable contacts, real-world experience, and build a portfolio of cases in AI and Data Science. The CMAD Department regularly organizes meetings with leading IT specialists – startup founders, technical directors, and developers of cutting-edge technologies. Students learn about artificial intelligence, Web3, Big Data, modern career opportunities, and the journey from an idea to a successful product. This is a real opportunity to gain insights from professionals, ask questions, and establish valuable contacts for a future career. 🎥 Recordings of the meetings can be viewed here: Playlist of Meetings with IT Specialists
✅Hackathons and Technical Competitions (IEEEXtreme, AI FOR DEFENCE, etc.)
✅ІInnovation and Startup Competitions (CIG R&D LAB, etc.)
