eō Business Incubators and NTU “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine will hold a noon conference on commercialization of research and development (R&D) of Ukrainian universities and research institutes in Kharkiv on January 27, 2022 NAS of Ukraine.
Ukrainian universities and research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences are, of course, of crucial importance for the creation of an innovative ecosystem. With the right approach, Ukrainian universities and research institutes can become a key engine for the growth of the new Ukrainian economy, the development of human capital and expertise, and, what is even more tangible, the creation and capitalization of new businesses (startups) based on advanced, high-class research and development .
Ukraine has a strong reputation as a “scientific and university country”, both in the field of fundamental developments and in applied areas. As demonstrated in “The Good Country Index”, Ukraine ranks 1st in the world in terms of the so-called “net contribution” to science and technology.
The main challenge is to find ways to strengthen the commercialization of research and development (R&D), including through cooperation with global (international) business, as well as ways to launch and grow technological startups based on university research and development, of course, while maintaining academic integrity, scientific and the educational mission of each university and research institute.
Rectors and directors of leading universities and research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as well as representatives of such prominent American universities as Cornell, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Berkeley, as well as well-known international venture funds, engineering and startup companies will take part in the conference.
