Meeting with Researchers from the United Kingdom at NTU “KhPI”

On April 9 at 2:00 PM, the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” hosted a meeting with colleagues from the United Kingdom. The event took place in a safe space located in the shelter of Building U2 and brought together faculty members, researchers, PhD students, and students interested in fostering international cooperation and advancing modern scientific research.

During the meeting, participants had the opportunity to attend two insightful and engaging presentations delivered by leading experts.

📌 Anastasiia Vasylchenkova, PhD, Editor at Nature Photonics delivered a lecture entitled “Publishing in Nature Portfolio.” She discussed the specifics of preparing and submitting scientific manuscripts to leading journals of the Nature Publishing Group, outlined the key stages of the peer-review process, and highlighted the criteria for manuscript selection. Particular attention was given to practical recommendations on improving the quality of research papers and increasing their chances of acceptance for publication.

📌 Mindaugas Jarmolovičius, UCL Optical Networks Group, presented a talk titled “Optical Networks and Fibre-Optic Communication.” He introduced the audience to recent advancements in high-performance optical and fiber-optic data transmission systems and outlined current trends and future prospects in modern telecommunications.

The department shares long-standing and close professional ties with both speakers. Collaboration with Anastasiia Vasylchenkova was actively developed within the Erasmus+ KA1 academic exchange program during 2019–2021, when she pursued her PhD studies at Aston University (Birmingham, United Kingdom). In addition, joint research with Mindaugas Jarmolovičius on communication systems for wearable biomedical sensors resulted in a co-authored publication indexed in the Scopus database.

The meeting was held in a warm and productive atmosphere, promoting knowledge exchange, strengthening scientific connections, and expanding international cooperation. The event marked another important step toward reinforcing partnerships and integrating NTU “KhPI” into the global scientific and educational community.
