On March 24, 2026, an off-site STEM festival took place in Malynivka (Chuhuiv District, Kharkiv Region), organized with the active participation of the Department of Electric Transport and Diesel Locomotive Engineering of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute.” The event became a яркою (vibrant) occasion for school students and an important step in promoting engineering education, particularly in the field of railway transport.
Faculty members and researchers of the department, together with colleagues from the Educational and Scientific Institute of Energy, Electronics and Electromechanics, introduced students to the modern world of energy and electrical engineering through interactive STEM locations. Special attention was given to electric transport—one of the key areas in training future specialists in specialty G3 “Electrical Engineering” and specialty J7 “Railway Transport.”
Festival participants had the opportunity to see and test equipment that simulates real railway processes:
- traction electric machines and devices;
- rolling stock control systems;
- modern automation solutions in transport;
- elements of electric railway infrastructure;
- cable engineering and relay protection (in the context of transport systems);
- other engineering solutions for the sustainable development of railway transport.
Students and teachers not only observed the operation of the equipment but also controlled models themselves, studied the principles of traction motor operation, and explored the prospects of high-speed and urban electric transport.
Representatives of NTU “KhPI” departments answered numerous questions about academic programs, modern laboratories, internships at leading enterprises in the railway and other industries, and career opportunities for graduates.
The event was held in a warm, friendly, and highly engaging atmosphere, once again proving that engineering science—especially in the field of railway transport—can be exciting and accessible to young people.
The Department of Electric Transport and Diesel Locomotive Engineering of NTU “KhPI” is looking forward to welcoming future engineers!
Choose specialties J7 “Railway Transport” and G3 “Electrical Engineering (Electromechanics: Electric Transport)”—together we are shaping a generation that will create the energy systems and technologies of the future in railway transport.
