WORKING VISIT TO LEIBNIZ UNIVERSITY HANNOVER

In December 2025, Professor of the KMAD Department of National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”, Oleksii Haluza, paid a working visit to Leibniz Universität Hannover (Germany) — one of the oldest and most powerful technical universities in Europe. The trip took place within the DAAD program “Eastern Partnership 2025,” which supports international academic cooperation. As part of the visit, Prof. Haluza also visited the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Physics at Technische Universität Braunschweig

The program of the visit included familiarization with the university structure, an internship, exchange of experience, and direct communication with colleagues. Most importantly, it resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which opens a new level of academic partnership between the universities.

In addition to the memorandum, the parties also concluded agreements on academic exchange and participation in the Erasmus+ program. This visit became the first practical step within the renewed partnership between the universities, coordinated by the Educational Center “German Technical Faculty.”

🤝 Key areas of cooperation:

  • 🔹 Academic mobility for students, teachers, and researchers of both universities — the opportunity to study, teach, or conduct research at a partner institution.
  • 🔹 Joint research projects that will enable the implementation of strong inter-university initiatives and involve students.
  • 🔹 Exchange of academic materials, development of joint courses and programs, and mutual enrichment of educational practices.
  • 🔹 Institutional support: the host university will assist with accommodation, integration, and adaptation of international students and staff.

🤝 What does this mean for students?

  • Each university may send up to 2 students per year (or up to 4 per semester);
  • The duration of exchange is one semester or an academic year;
  • Students remain enrolled at their home university, tuition is paid there, while the host institution assists with housing and integration;
  • All expenses (accommodation, food, transport, additional fees) and mandatory health insurance are covered by the student.

Internship in Hannover: Optical Technologies and International Cooperation

The internship took place at the HOT Center for Optical Technologies, operating within the PhoenixD Cluster of Excellence — a modern research hub at Leibniz Universität Hannover. The program included exchange of experience, familiarization with the scientific approaches of colleagues, and discussion of potential areas of cooperation between the universities

🌍 International Program “Eastern European Partnership”

The internship was part of a project implemented by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany. Its goal is to strengthen cooperation with Ukrainian universities in:
– research and educational fields;
– creation of interdisciplinary teams;
– exchange of ideas, practices, and methodologies.

🧠 Experience and Scientific Exchange

During the internship, participants became acquainted with the scientific approaches used at the HOT Center for Optical Technologies and discussed possible directions for cooperation between NTU “KhPI” and Leibniz Universität Hannover. Participation in a number of scientific events dedicated to interdisciplinary research and applied aspects of optical technologies also took place.

The experience gained became another step toward deepening international partnership, opening new opportunities for further initiatives in science and education.
