Marketing battles at NTU “KhPI”

A practical session in the format of marketing debates for 2nd-year students was held at the
Department of Marketing of NTU “KhPI”. The organizer and moderator of the event was Associate Professor of the Department of Marketing Yulia Tatarintseva.

Conducting such sessions corresponds to modern approaches of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to training specialists, according to which graduates of higher education institutions should combine thorough professional knowledge with communicative, organizational and team competencies. One of the effective tools for forming such skills is game design and interactive teaching methods.

That is why the practice of game design is actively being introduced at NTU “KhPI”, which is currently being implemented in many departments of the university. The experience of such an approach demonstrates high efficiency in developing students’ practical skills, their involvement in the educational process and the formation of professional thinking.

As part of the class, students took part in marketing battles – a discussion format where participants had to defend their own position with arguments, work with real cases, and analyze current trends in the advertising industry.

During four rounds, students discussed topics that are actively discussed in the professional marketing environment today:
📌 influencer marketing or direct advertising – which is more effective in the digital age;
📌 Balenciaga’s hype advertising campaigns – a new level of attention management or a distortion of classic marketing;
📌 the role of artificial intelligence in the creative industry – a replacement for specialists or a tool for work;
📌 ethical marketing and social responsibility of business in conditions of high competition.

Students demonstrated a high level of preparation, flexibility of thinking, the ability to quickly respond to counterarguments, and work with modern marketing cases. Special attention during the debates was paid to the development of critical thinking, analytics, and team interaction skills.

Such formats of classes allow to bring the educational process as close as possible to the real conditions of professional activity and help students to form the competencies necessary for a modern marketer.

Marketing today is not only a theory, but also the ability to analyze, discuss, make decisions and quickly adapt to changes. That is why interactive learning formats remain an important component of the training of future specialists of the Department of Marketing of NTU “KhPI” 🚀
