CHAIRity project is aimed at organizing events to provide international support to Ukraine in its struggle for independence and territorial integrity and for the post-war restoration of Ukrainian cities.
Charity auction “CHAIRity” was held at the Central Exhibition Center of Ljubljana, and was attended by representatives of the Slovenian government, the mayor of Ljubljana, the consul of Ukraine, the creative and scientific community, and students.
The funds received from the auction are directed to support Ukraine in the reconstruction of the city of Kharkiv after the war. The funds collected are directed to organize a chain of actions aimed at one ultimate goal – projects for the reconstruction of war-torn cities. Namely: auction – international conference on the problem of the reconstruction of war-torn cities – international competition for the best project for the reconstruction of the city of Kharkiv – preparation of applications for grants from educational, research, and economic international programs.
The economic – research – educational – practical dimension of the project allowed to involve students, teachers, researchers, practitioners, trade unions, the public, government representatives, and business in the development of the ecosystem. The auction received wide publicity, news reports about the event were broadcast on the central television of Slovenia and Ukraine, and articles were written in the media. https://www.rtvslo.si/kultura/arhitektura-in-oblikovanje/slovenska-studenta-arhitekture-zelita-obnoviti-harkov-z-drazbo-kraljevih-stolov-zbrala-7300-evrov/631577?fbclid=IwAR3U0mEyhk6dcWgiaEyIc6R9PkpmvJW1XwSafTbOvIDbb9WcpF7ATn4WpO8&fs=e&s=cl .
It is noteworthy that the initiative came from the bottom up from the students. The proposal to hold an International Student Competition for the Best Project for the Restoration and Renewal of Ukraine was submitted to the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, during her visit to the University of Ljubljana in October 2024.
The proposal aroused interest because it involves European youth in jointly solving Ukraine’s problems, which creates prospects for self-identification with their projects, finding opportunities and taking responsibility for their implementation. The proposal was submitted in writing to the Ambassador of Ukraine to Slovenia.
