Mykhailo D. Godlevskyi. Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Director of the Institute of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies.

“The main goal of the department is to make our graduates free people. A free person is not the one who is looking for a job, but the one who is looking for a job and finds it anywhere in the world,” says Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Mykhailo Dmytrovych Godlevskyi, Head of the Department in 1990-2021, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies of NTU “KhPI”.
This approach was formed at the foundation of the department and fully justified itself in subsequent years. Many graduates have become well-known scientists, university lecturers, heads of large businesses and organizations, have achieved significant success in business, work in leading companies of the Ukrainian and world IT industry.

Today the Department of Software Engineering and Management Intelligent Technologies NTU “KPI” is the leading educational center in the field of training IT specialists.

The successful features of the department in science and education are:

  • 60 years of experience in successfully training IT professionals and 30 years of experience in teaching international students;
  • 20 years of experience in teaching in English in the field of software engineering;
  • international accreditation of educational programs by the German Central Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation (ZEvA) (Hannover, Germany);
  • highly qualified teaching staff, about 70% of teachers conduct classes in English;
  • modern computer equipment;
  • partnership with leading universities in Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, which guarantees the exchange of students within the framework of educational programmes, foreign practices and internships;
  • double degree programme with the Alpine-Adriatic University in Klagenfurt (Austria), Linnaeus University in Småland (Sweden), the Graduate School of Management and Public Administration in Bratislava (Slovakia), and a programme with French universities is being prepared;
  • participation of the department in international educational projects and grants;
  • employment of graduates not only in the leading IT companies of Kharkiv and Ukraine (EPAM, Telesens, NIX Solutions, Sigma), but also in international IT concerns (Google, Siemens, Facebook);
  • dual education system (synthesis of theoretical training and paid practical work)
  • project-based approach to education (work on projects at Innovation Campus).
