1. Education
The Institute provides education of highly qualified professionals in 15 courses of 36 specialties. A large number of students annually become winners of Ukrainian Olympiads and contests of scientific works in various fields.
Such high results of our students are the result of a large academic staff of the Kharkiv Polytechnical Institute, which currently employs about 200 doctors of science and professors, and more than 900 candidates of sciences.
2. Conferences and student exchange programs
Another factor in obtaining high-quality education is the ability of our students to participate in various conferences both in Ukraine and abroad.
NTU “KhPI” students also have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs, as the University has partnered with more than 100 foreign partners from 33 countries..
3. Employment of graduates
Help in finding employment – is one of the priorities of NTU “KhPI”. Especially for this, a «Career Center of NTU «KhPI» was created at the university. It helps students to write their resume, prepare for interviews, as well as provides information about current vacancies for students and graduates of the university.
An annual job fair – is an event attended by more than 60 companies from various fields of activities. Each student has the opportunity to talk with representatives as well as get information about what they need to know and be able to do to get the desired job.
4. The learning environment
Studying is conducted in 20 buildings of the campus. Most of them have access to Wi-Fi. The largest buildings have buffets and, of course, there is a big cafeteria with a wide range of dishes for a proper healthy diet.
A great attention deserves the university library, as it is not just comfortable reading rooms and book storage, but also modern computer labs with high-speed internet access, including the ability to access via Wi-Fi. In a word, the library features all the necessary conditions for a comfortable students’ work.
5. University Infrastructure
Another advantage of our university is its vast and beautiful territory. The campus is located in the city center. In addition to the academic buildings, there is a sports complex and a Students’ Palace, where each student, in their free time, can develop physically and creatively.
The Sports Complex – one of the best and largest in Ukraine. You can not only engage in physical exercises, but also become a professional athlete in a chosen sport, which vary from swimming to rock climbing.
The Students’ Palace is where our students can develop their creativity and talent. Playing musical instruments, dancing, circus studio and much more – in here, you are bound to find something for appealing.
If you came to study from another city, it will be easy to get to the campus from any dormitory of the university.
6. Student Government
Of course, the main purpose of studying at a university is to get quality education, however, it is not all of it. Along with leading European universities, our university has the most developed student government in Kharkov – NTU “KhPI” Students Alliance, which plays an important role in the lives of students.
The main functions of the Student Alliance is to protect the rights and interests of students, as well as organizing events for their development and recreation. When you become a student of NTU “KhPI”, we invite you to take part in the School of student government – the event with the highest concentration of useful training for students. In order not to miss the School and also be the first to know about different projects of our students, consider following the Students Alliance on Vkontakte social network.
Another way for self-realization is the Student TV “KhPI Online”. The students cover the latest news and interesting student life activities. In addition, “KhPI Online” – is a great opportunity for each student to master the basics of professions such as journalist, camera-man, editor and photographer.
7. History, which you can be proud of
1895: Professor N.P. Klobukov (the first teacher of electric chemistry in the Russian Empire) has prepared a major work for publishing “The Theory of electricity.”
1906: On October 26, the institute held a review of turbine projects carried out by graduate students, under the guidance of Professor V.I. Albitsky.
1907: Institute engineer V.E. Tyr with the staff at the Nikolayev shipbuilding factory has carried out the installation on the battleship “Potemkin” mechanisms.
1944: Professor B.A. Noskov has been awarded a State Prize for introduction of a new steel grade in tank development.
1963: The Department of DIC has created and implemented into production a new D-70 3000 h/p diesel engine matching the world standards models.
1965: The department of tractor construction collaborating with the fields’ laboratory proceeded to engineering new T-150 tractors.
1968: Professor B.N. Tutunnikov was awarded the USSR State Prize for improving the hydrogenization of vegetable oil.
1973: For the creation of the original method of thermal destruction of coals in centrifugal field staff KhPI awarded a gold, two silver and four bronze medals ENEA USSR.
1979: The head of the turbine-building department professor V.M. Kapinos was awarded the USSR State Prize for developing a series of steam turbines for nuclear power plants.
1981: World’s largest pulsing voltage generator was created in the University for analyzing energy equipment.
