On April 28, 2026, an open lesson on game design “Banking & Marketing” was held on the Microsoft Teams platform, organized within the framework of interdisciplinary interaction between the Department of Marketing and the Department of Accounting and Finance of NTU “KhPI”.
The organizers and moderators of the event were Associate Professor of the Department of Marketing Yulia Tatarintseva and Associate Professor of the Department of Accounting and Finance Svitlana Osypova.
Conducting such interactive classes corresponds to modern approaches to training specialists, focused not only on obtaining theoretical knowledge, but also on the formation of professional, communicative and team competencies. That is why the university is actively introducing elements of game design and practice-oriented learning.
The goal of the event was to form practical skills of professional interaction in applicants in conditions that are as close as possible to the real business environment. Particular attention was paid to the integration of financial knowledge with marketing tools, the development of critical thinking, teamwork and presentation skills.
The concept of the lesson was based on the modeling of the creation and promotion of a banking institution.
First-year students of the specialty D2 “Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market” (groups BEM-425 and BEM-325) worked on the financial component of the projects:
✔️ created bank concepts;
✔️ formed service packages;
✔️ determined competitive advantages.
In turn, second-year students of the specialty D5 “Marketing” (group BEM-924) acted as marketing teams and:
🎨 developed a visual identity;
📝 created slogans;
📢 formed communication channels and comprehensive promotion strategies.
Work on the projects lasted three weeks – from idea generation to the creation of a finished product. The final stage was the presentation of projects in the pitching format to the audience.
As part of the open session, five interdisciplinary banking projects were presented, which demonstrated a combination of financial logic, a modern marketing approach and creative solutions.
An important component of the event was the elements of game design:
🎮 role-playing;
🤝 teamwork;
📈 competitive environment;
📊 interactive online voting via Mentimeter.
This format allows applicants to develop skills in public speaking, argumentation, team interaction and decision-making in conditions close to real professional activity.
We sincerely thank all participants for their activity, creativity and high level of training! 👏
