Scientific and Methodical Laboratory

SCIENTIFIC AND METHODOLOGICAL LABORATORY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF BUSINES FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND TRANSLATION

The Lab is a form of organization of scientific activity of a certain structural body of an educational and/or scientific institution and aims at uniting like-minded scientists around a certain goal or project in order to conduct an experiment and then implement the results obtained into practice.

The creation of the Lab of the Department was initiated in the summer of 2022, and on July 28, 2022, at the meeting of the Department (Minutes No. 20), the Regulation on the Scientific and Methodological Laboratory was unanimously approved. Thus, the Department has introduced another important structure the purpose of which is to study the use of innovative multimedia technologies in the process of teaching a foreign language in order to improve the quality of the educational process.

The draft Regulation had been submitted to the Department for consideration by university lecturer Oleksii ZENIAKIN who was then appointed to be the Head of the Laboratory.

The main vectors of the Lab’s activity are theoretical and practical scientific investigations in the field of foreign language teaching methods, publication of results in specialized national and international scientific journals, working-out modern educational and methodological materials, joint professional development of members.

On July 1, 2022, based on the results of an open vote, the Academic Council of NTU “KhPI” approved (Minutes No. 5) the Regulation on the Scientific and Methodological Laboratory of the Business Foreign Language and Translation Department. The document was signed by the Secretary of the Academic Council, Leonid TOVAZHNIANSKYI.

 

Structure of the Laboratory:

The Head of the Lab is university teacher Oleksii ZENIAKIN

Lab Members are all the Lecturers of the Department.

According to the Regulation on the Lab:

  1. The scientific and methodical Laboratory is an integral part of the Department of Business Foreign Language and Translation of NTU “KhPI” which is established, changed and dismissed by the decision of the Academic Council;
  2. The leading lecturer of the Department is elected as the Head of the Laboratory for a period of 2 years with his/her candidacy submitted by the Head of the Department and the decision on his approval by open voting of the Department during the Department meeting with the entry of relevant information about it in the minutes of the Department meeting;
  3. The staff of the Laboratory is introduced by the Head of the Laboratory and approved by an open vote of the Department during the Department’s meeting, with relevant information being entered in the minutes of the Department’s meeting;
  4. The Laboratory consists of its Head and lecturers who have expressed a desire to work on scientific research projects of the Laboratory which are approved at the Department meeting; their candidacies and research projects/topics are approved by an open vote of the Department during the Department meeting, with appropriate information being entered in the minutes of the Department meeting;
  5. The scientific and methodical Laboratory is theoretically based on the scientific investigations that were previously conducted by the leading lecturers of the Department, namely:

  1. The purpose of the scientific and methodological Laboratory is to improve the quality of teaching foreign languages ​​and bring the teaching process to a new level, as required by the modern challenges of the 21st century, as well as the joint professional development of member lecturers.
  2. The tasks of the scientific and methodical Laboratory are as follows:
  • 1. working out intensive methods of teaching foreign languages ​​I and II on the basis of the existing ones, modeling and correction of methods; creation of educational and methodical literature to ensure teaching according to the above-mentioned methods;
  • 2. carrying out experiments on the implementation of intensive methods for the educational process; approval of special educational and methodological developments;
  • 3. professional description of the results in professional publications and “A” category publications.
