On April 29, Pavlo Palamarchuk, a graduate student in the Department, successfully defended his dissertation ahead of schedule on the topic “Development of a Method for Calculating Creep and Wear of Rotating Bodies,” which he completed in the field of “Applied Mathematics.” In his work, Pavlo proposed a new approach to analyzing deformation and failure under high temperatures and impact contact loads, which lead to surface wear, and obtained new, practically important results regarding the determination of the service life of structural elements in nuclear reactors. During the discussion, the candidate answered complex questions from Council members and attending experts, demonstrating his qualifications as a scientist. We wish Pavlo continued creative success!
