Results of the interdisciplinary practical training for bachelor’s students

An analysis of the comprehensive training program for our graduates in Specialization 263 – Civil Security – this academic year demonstrates its high effectiveness, particularly under martial law. For example, higher education student Snizhana Rozhko has been undergoing practical training for the second consecutive year at the facilities of PJSC “TURBOGAZ” – a research and production company comprising an engineering center and several production sites – in the role of an occupational safety specialist. Artem Oleksiyovych Novosyolov, head of the company’s Department of Occupational Safety, Civil Protection, Fire Safety, and Environmental Protection, discussed the results of our graduate’s training in a video interview.

Online meeting with the coordinator of the dual-degree program in Safety Engineering

On May 13, 2026, as part of an international academic mobility project – specifically, a semester-long academic exchange and dual-degree program for students – an online meeting was organized and held with the Coordinator of the educational program “Innovative Technologies and Modern Materials”, the coordinator of the dual degree program in “Safety Engineering”, associate professor of the Department of Advanced Computational Methods at the Faculty of Natural, Exact, and Technical Sciences, and Candidate of Technical Sciences at Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa (Poland), Anna Kulakowska. The meeting was organized by the Department of Occupational and Environmental Safety through senior lecturer and Candidate of Technical Sciences Larysa Yashchenko, who is responsible for international academic mobility for students in the Department of OandES. Career guidance event: “Science picnic with NTU ‘KhPI’” for students of the Reshetylivka lyceum named I.L. Oliynyk a model school of the Reshetylivka city council in Poltava oblast

Faculty members of the department are continuing their active career guidance efforts this academic year regarding admission to the J4 “Occupational health and safety” major under the “Occupational health and safety” educational program. Due to the state of martial law in the country, such events are typically held remotely. Nevertheless, when possible and when the security situation permits, they take place in a traditional, i.e., in-person format. At the same time, the venues for such events are selected in such a way that, in the event of an air raid alert, all participants have the opportunity to quickly move to a bomb shelter. Read more…

The department’s faculty members are continuing their career guidance efforts this academic year regarding admission to the “Occupational health and safety”, educational program, specialization J4 “Occupational health and safety”. In April 2026, remote career guidance events were held with students from the G.Y. Bazima Putivl Lyceum №2 (Sumy Oblast); Poltava Polytechnic Lyceum; Secondary School №1 in Horishni Plavni (Poltava Oblast); and students in their final year at the Kharkiv Regional Medical Vocational College.

Holding an event dedicated to World Day for Safety and Health at Work

Every year on April 28, the global progressive community observes World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which aims to draw attention to issues related to the protection of human life and health in the workplace. The implementation of measures aimed at improving the safety and health of workers at work is regulated by the Council Directive of the European Communities of June 12, 1989 (89/391/EEC). By ratifying a number of International Labour Organization conventions in the field of occupational safety and health, Ukraine is steadily bringing its national occupational safety and health system into line with European Union standards.

Final practical training for bachelor’s students

In accordance with the training curriculum for the 2025–2026 academic year, the final practical training for bachelor’s degree graduates majoring in 263 – Civil Security began on April 20, 2026. The internship is taking place at companies in the city of Kharkiv, where our graduates are applying their theoretical knowledge. Thus, as part of the comprehensive practical training program, our student Kateryna Reshetnyak, in accordance with the agreement between the University and the Production Division of the Kharkiv Passenger Car Depot – Passenger Branch of “Passenger Company” JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia,” is completing her internship as an occupational safety specialist. The department’s faculty members are continuing their remote career guidance activities this academic year regarding admission to the J4 “Occupational health and safety” major within the “Occupational health and safety” educational program. In March 2026, remote career guidance events were held with students from Kharkiv lyceum № 126; Beresynsky lyceum № 3, Barvinkivsky lyceum № 2 (Kharkiv Oblast), Chernivtsi Lyceum № 13, and graduating students of the Kharkiv Machine-Building Vocational College, as well as an in-person event with students from the Kharkiv Lyceum “Boiko’s Author’s School”.

Career guidance event at Kharkiv lyceum № 138

Faculty members of the department continue to actively provide career guidance this academic year regarding admission to the J4 «Occupational health and safety» major within the «Occupational health and safety» educational program. Although the vast majority of these events are conducted remotely for safety reasons due to the large-scale war with russia, which has been ongoing for five years now, some of them are still held in person. This has become possible thanks to the development of underground learning spaces for secondary school students in Kharkiv and the surrounding region.

Given the state of martial law, these activities are primarily conducted remotely. Nevertheless, when possible and when the situation is safe, they take place in person.
