Daria Romanova (MIT-624) received a scholarship from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

Daria Dmytrivna Romanova has been a graduate student in our department, majoring in 263 Civil security, since September 1, 2024. She has maintained excellent academic standing throughout her studies and is actively involved in community service. He is highly regarded and respected among students and faculty, and serves as a role model for students in their academic and research work. One example is that Daria participated in All-Ukrainian competitions for student research papers and academic Olympiads, where she went on to win prizes. Read more…

Meeting with first-year students majoring in J4 «Occupational health and safety»

A meeting was held with first-year students who have begun their studies in the J4 “Occupational health and safety” program. The event was attended by professor S. Vambol, head of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Safety, N. Yevtushenko, advisor to first-year students and T. Sokolova, senior lecturer in the department.

During the meeting, the freshmen had the opportunity to learn about the specifics of the educational program, the organization of the academic process, and the main areas of training for future occupational safety and health professionals. Read more…

Memorandum of Cooperation between the NTU “KhPI” and the Humanitarian Demining Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine

On August 25, 2026, a meeting was held between representatives of NTU “KhPI” and the Interregional Center for Humanitarian Demining and Rapid Response of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, during which a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed. The event was attended by: the acting rector of NTU “KhPI” professor Galina Tymchenko; the vice rector for scientific and pedagogical work, professor Oleksiy Larin; and the head of the Interregional Center, Civil Protection Service Colonel Serhiy Ivanov. Representatives from relevant departments and research units at NTU “KhPI” – working in the fields of robotics, unmanned technologies, artificial intelligence, modeling, materials science, and testing of technical equipment – also joined the discussion. Bachelor’s Degree Qualifying Exam 2026

On June 17, 2026, at the Department of Occupational and Environmental Safety at NTU “KhPI,” a certification exam was held for first-cycle undergraduate students in groups MIT-622 and MIT-622z majoring in 263 “Civil security” under the “Occupational health and safety” educational program.

Full-time and part-time students took the certification exam. During the exam, the candidates demonstrated a high level of mastery of the professional competencies acquired during their studies, as well as knowledge of regulatory and legal acts governing occupational safety, occupational risk management, workplace safety, occupational hygiene, and civil protection. Career guidance activities in May 2026

As the 2026 admissions season approaches, faculty members of the department are stepping up their career guidance efforts regarding admission to the J4 “Occupational health and safety” major under the “Occupational health and safety” educational program. These career guidance activities are conducted in both online and in-person formats.

Results of the XXXIV-th MicroCAD-2026 Annual Conference

The 34th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Information Technologies: Science, Engineering, Technology, Education, Health (MicroCAD-2026)” was held at Kharkiv Polytechnic University from May 13–16, 2026. Members of our department also participated in this event. By combining their efforts, the departments of “Occupational and Environmental Safety” and “Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology” worked productively in subsection “2.4 Environmental Protection Technologies, Occupational Safety, and Health” (chaired by the heads of the respective departments, Professor S.O. Results of the interdisciplinary practical training for bachelor’s students

An analysis of the comprehensive training program for our graduates in Specialization 263 – Civil Security – this academic year demonstrates its high effectiveness, particularly under martial law. For example, higher education student Snizhana Rozhko has been undergoing practical training for the second consecutive year at the facilities of PJSC “TURBOGAZ” – a research and production company comprising an engineering center and several production sites – in the role of an occupational safety specialist. Artem Oleksiyovych Novosyolov, head of the company’s Department of Occupational Safety, Civil Protection, Fire Safety, and Environmental Protection, discussed the results of our graduate’s training in a video interview.

Online meeting with the coordinator of the dual-degree program in Safety Engineering

On May 13, 2026, as part of an international academic mobility project – specifically, a semester-long academic exchange and dual-degree program for students – an online meeting was organized and held with the Coordinator of the educational program “Innovative Technologies and Modern Materials”, the coordinator of the dual degree program in “Safety Engineering”, associate professor of the Department of Advanced Computational Methods at the Faculty of Natural, Exact, and Technical Sciences, and Candidate of Technical Sciences at Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa (Poland), Anna Kulakowska. The meeting was organized by the Department of Occupational and Environmental Safety through senior lecturer and Candidate of Technical Sciences Larysa Yashchenko, who is responsible for international academic mobility for students in the Department of OandES. Career guidance event: “Science picnic with NTU ‘KhPI’” for students of the Reshetylivka lyceum named I.L. Oliynyk a model school of the Reshetylivka city council in Poltava oblast

Faculty members of the department are continuing their active career guidance efforts this academic year regarding admission to the J4 “Occupational health and safety” major under the “Occupational health and safety” educational program. Due to the state of martial law in the country, such events are typically held remotely. Nevertheless, when possible and when the security situation permits, they take place in a traditional, i.e., in-person format. At the same time, the venues for such events are selected in such a way that, in the event of an air raid alert, all participants have the opportunity to quickly move to a bomb shelter. Read more…

In April 2026, remote career guidance events were held with students from the G.Y. Bazima Putivl Lyceum №2 (Sumy Oblast); Poltava Polytechnic Lyceum; Secondary School №1 in Horishni Plavni (Poltava Oblast); and students in their final year at the Kharkiv Regional Medical Vocational College.
