The 34th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Information Technologies: Science, Engineering, Technology, Education, Health (MicroCAD-2026)” was held at Kharkiv Polytechnic University from May 13–16, 2026. Members of our department also participated in this event. By combining their efforts, the departments of “Occupational and Environmental Safety” and “Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology” worked productively in subsection “2.4 Environmental Protection Technologies, Occupational Safety, and Health” (chaired by the heads of the respective departments, Professor S.O. Vambol and Professor O.V. Shestopalov; secretary – Associate Professor O.A. Maksymenko). The researchers presented the results of their scientific studies in 86 abstracts, 30 of which were submitted by our department. It should be noted that the co-authors of the research included not only faculty members and researchers but also graduate students and undergraduates. A total of 44 faculty members, researchers, graduate students, and undergraduates were present at the meeting.
On May 16 at 2:00 p.m., the chair of the subsection and head of the Department of Biotechnology and Natural Sciences, Serhii Vambol, noted the high level of engagement among the participants and, wishing everyone success, opened the subsection’s session. The co-chair of the subsection, O.V. Shestopalov, head of the Department of Chemical Technology and Process Engineering, greeted all participants, congratulated them on Science Day, and emphasized the significance and importance of this event.

Given the large number of abstracts submitted, decisions were made regarding the number of online presentations, their scientific and practical focus, their relevance, and the presenters’ academic expertise. The high-quality presentation materials prepared by the speakers showcased the achievements of our researchers.
The first presentation, delivered by Serhii Vambol, Head of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Safety, on the topic “Development of an Algorithm for Conducting a Comprehensive Occupational Safety Audit at an Enterprise Using AI,” sparked the attendees’ interest and generated lively discussion from both a scientific and practical perspective.

The next speaker, Olena Kuzmenko, Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, delivered a substantive academic presentation on the topic: “Potential and Actual Risks of the Impact of Harmful and Hazardous Factors in the Work Environment on Working Conditions”.

The research paper titled “Study of Electromagnetic Radiation and Industrial Noise Levels at a Transformer Substation” was presented by Yevhen Yashcheritsyn, Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Safety and Environmental Protection.

A very interesting presentation was given by Diana Sydorenko, a student in the Department of Chemical Technology and Process Engineering, on the topic “Environmental Consequences of Human Waste Ending Up in Forest Buffers.” The presenter’s high level of preparation and the relevance of the topic were noted.

Khristina Pchelnikova, a student in the Department of Chemical Technology and Process Engineering, gave a presentation and delivered a paper on the topic: “Current Trends in the Removal of Heavy Metals from Wastewater at Machine-Building Enterprises.” This topic is highly relevant, which is why it prompted numerous questions for the presenter.

In closing, the heads of the subsection, Professor S.O. Vambol and Professor O.V. Shestopalov, wished all participants fruitful research and academic success.
It was very gratifying to see that the faculty members of the department took an active part in the discussion of the presentations, as they were interested in our guests’ talks. The warm, friendly atmosphere of the sub-section’s work ensured productive scientific collaboration. Our department’s staff looks forward to continuing this type of collaboration. Based on the results of the event, the presenters received certificates of participation.
We sincerely thank everyone who took part in this event.
