On 11/24/2023, at a meeting of the SAIT department, a discussion was held on the content of the updated educational and professional program “Information Technologies in the Media Industry” in specialty 186 “Publishing and Printing” with representatives of employers.
The Chairman of the Board of the Kharkiv Book Factory “Globus” Nesterenko E.A. generally approved the educational program and emphasized the relevance of its focus on the use of modern information technologies in the process of pre-printing preparation of printed and electronic publications, and also proposed:
- to expand in clause 4 “Suitability of graduates for employment” the list of positions in which graduates can work and which are currently most in demand on the market, adding:
– digital printing specialist;
– prepress engineer (reprographer). - pay more attention in the learning process to digital printing technologies and pre-press preparation for digital printing;
- when teaching the disciplines “Chemistry” and “Publishing and Printing Materials”, pay more attention to the technologies of using modern paints and varnishes in printing activities.
Technical editor of the publishing house “Ranok” Trufen V.I. emphasized that the text of the educational program very carefully spells out the competencies and learning outcomes that modern publishing professionals need, and proposed in paragraph 3 “Characteristics of the educational program”:
- expand the formulation of the object of study by adding “processes of preparation for printing and quality control of layouts of publications”;
- specify the theoretical content of the subject area by adding “in particular, processing of illustrations and texts”;
- in paragraph 4, add “technical editor” to the list of positions.
The participants of the meeting agreed that such discussions help to increase the level of training of future specialists, since their goal is to clarify and further take into account in the training process the urgent needs of employers and the modern labor market.
