Abstract

Nowadays, there are many important classes of controllable dynamic systems: energy systems, aircraft, electric transport systems, and others. During the modernization of existing systems and the design of a new generation of Information Control Systems (ICS), special attention is paid to improving their safety and reliability, as well as enhancing qualitative characteristics. In this regard, there is a growing need to improve the reliability and accuracy of ICS design methods.
One of the main engineering challenges in creating ICS is the optimization of their performance indicators. This challenge is characterized by a large number of design parameters, the complexity of formalizing and determining performance indicators, contradictory requirements, and high-order system models. Traditional control system calculation methods are usually based on significant simplification of models and the use of approximate indirect scalar quality criteria. A major drawback of existing approaches is the limited application of optimization theory models and methods in control systems design.
The development of models and optimization methods for performance indicators of control processes in complex dynamic systems is necessary to increase the reliability, accuracy, and quality of automation in various technological processes. This highlights the relevance of this scientific direction, which should be further expanded by incorporating intelligent systems, the Internet of Things, and smart environments, including smart homes.

Achievements

The Department of System Analysis and Information-Analytical Technologies (SAIT) has been working in the direction of modeling and optimization of control processes in complex dynamic systems for over 30 years. Developed models and optimization methods have been applied to electromagnetic levitation devices, powerful electric pulse generators, control processes for nuclear power plant units, electric transport systems, quadcopters, and other complex dynamic systems.
Within this research direction, 4 PhD dissertations and 2 doctoral theses have been defended. More than 50 master’s theses have been completed. Over 100 scientific papers have been published in professional journals in Ukraine and in the proceedings of international conferences, including 5 papers indexed in the Scopus scientometric database.
