Victoria Degeler (Tarasova) received a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the Department of Systems Analysis and Control, NTU “KhPI”, a Master’s degree in Smart Systems Design from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, and a PhD in Smart Homes from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
She worked as a programmer-researcher in the field of artificial intelligence in the following companies: Airbus (UK), Amadeus (France), Insight Centre for Data Analytics (Ireland), held the position of Head of the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Department at Cupenya, Amsterdam.
She currently holds a professorship at the University of Amsterdam.
Victoria’s research focuses on reasoning and decision-making systems for smart environments, activity recognition, ubiquitous environments, development of digital twins, and context modeling. The researcher pays special attention to the environmentally sustainable use of electricity and drinking water distribution control systems.
Victoria is the author of many scientific publications, has received a patent. She is also the laureate of several research grants, coordinates research work on several projects. In addition to her work at the university, Victoria actively promotes research approaches in industry and has acted as a technical mentor in artificial intelligence for startups.
