International internships

International internships at European universities, professional development of teachers and students’ competences.

Scientific internships for teachers and postgraduate students of the department are in the focus of constant attention and have been successfully implemented. For example, Iryna Yermakovych, while studying for her PhD in environmental studies, completed a research internship in accordance with the topic of her dissertation under the Swedish Institute’s Wisby Programme at the Centre for Analysis and Synthesis at Lund University and at the Department of the School of Education and Environment at Kristianstad University, Sweden. In addition, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Laboratory of the Institute for Combustion of Aerothermal Reactivity and the Environment (ICARE-CNRS), Orleans, France. Currently, Associate Professor Pitak I.V. is conducting a research internship in the field of Environmental Engineering at the Lithuanian Energy Institute on the topic “Potential of solid recycled fuel in the system of solid waste management and its place in the energy sector: technical, economic and environmental aspects”.

In April 2019, Associate Professor Iryna Pitak took part in the ERASMUS+ academic mobility programme. He gave a number of lectures on environmental issues to students of the Faculty of Chemical Technology (Department of Engineering Ecology) of Kaunas University of Technology. This mobility provided an opportunity to improve teaching competence and English speaking skills.

Teachers of the Department are actively mastering foreign internships in a remote form. Associate Professor Tikhomirova T.S., Associate Professor Filenko O.M. and Associate Professor Babenko V.M. improved their qualifications under the international programme: “Fundraising and organisation of project activities in educational institutions: European experience” at the Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Poland).

The scientific and pedagogical internship took place in November 2021 – March 2022 using the Zoom platform, Google Classroom. Link: (http://conference-ukraine.com.ua/ru/training/stazhuvannya/). The direction of professional development concerned the currently relevant issue of organising project activity in educational institutions from the standpoint of European experience.

Associate Professor Babenko V.M. continued to improve his professional skills in an online format and from 10 February to 30 June 2022 took part in a series of seminars from Clarivate Ukraine. Link: (https://clarivate.libguides.com/europe/ukraine). The topics of the seminars concerned important issues of open access information resources for scientists and higher education professionals, a workshop on the Web of Science Core Collection (basic and extended access), the Web of Science Core Collection for effective research, etc.

In the framework of cooperation with the Pomeranian University in Słupsk, the Department’s lecturers are involved in a series of online lectures conducted by leading world experts under the A+ Lecture programme organised by the University under the Active University project. During the 2021/2022 academic year, lecturers and postgraduate students actively attended online lectures, which provided opportunities to learn about the latest scientific and technological advances in the field of natural and technical sciences, as well as current social issues.

Improving the level of competence of graduates through internships abroad is a direction that is implemented by students of the department in accordance with the tasks of the Career Centre of NTU “KhPI”. From 01.12.2021 to 28.02.2022, Kateryna Khlynina, a student of MIT-118, underwent an environmental practice at an enterprise in Germany. Now she has a certain list of practical skills that can be implemented to reduce the negative environmental impact of agrophytocenoses.
