Oleksii Shestopalov
Oleksii Shestopalov has been working as Head of the Department “Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology” at the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” (NTU “KhPI”), and has a total of scientific and pedagogical experience of 14 years. In 2006, he graduated with a master’s degree at NTU “KhPI”, majoring in ecology and environmental protection, and obtained the qualification of “ecologist-technologist-researcher” (Diploma of the NTU “KhPI” №30562626). Since January 21st, 2013, he has been working as an associate professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology at the NTU “KhPI”. During his work at the NTU “KhPI”, he has gained a reputation as a punctual, conscientious employee who enjoys respect and authority in the team.
Shestopalov is a Doctor of Philosophy (Technical Sciences), specialty 05.17.08 – Processes and equipment of chemical technology (Diploma №067962, 2011). Title of Dissertation: “Regularities of hydromechanical processes of the utilization of solid waste of soda ash plant”. In 2015, by the decision of the Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, he was awarded the academic title of associate professor (Certificate 12DC№041719) of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology. Since September 28th, 2021, O. Shestopalov has been working in the position of Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology.
Oleksii Shestopalov demonstrated the ability to analyze the scientific basis for the development and improvement of equipment for water purification from pollutants; of resource conservation and creation of low-waste industries; strategies for rational use of natural resources, etc. He has about 200 scientific, educational and methodological works on ecology, including 25 articles in scientific journals included in the Scopus database, 2 declaratory patents, 6 training manuals, 2 textbooks and 4 monographs. His scientific papers, particularly for water purification, shows his vast knowledge of tendencies, problems and prospects in the water security of Ukraine.
Since 2007, Mr. O. Shestopalov has taken an active part in the performance of contract scientific works of the Department as a responsible executor and head of scientific projects, in particular in:
- “Scientific and technical examination of the technology of destruction and disposal of unusable pesticides and agrochemicals with the help of a research and industrial mobile installation” (Customer: Office of Emergency Service, Poltava, Ukraine);
- “Determining the possibility of increasing the degree of utilization of the heat of distilling liquid by converting or expanding the existing UVTDR”, “Determining the possibility of reducing the volume of distilling liquid and energy consumption by directing chloride condensates pre-saturated with salt to the absorption stage”, “Developing recommendations for improving the use of heat in the calcination shop” (Contract work with PJSC “Krymsky Sodovy Zavod”, Krasnoperekopsk, Ukraine);
- “Determination of the possibility of increasing the degree of separation of fine-disperse suspensions due to the improvement of the sedimentation centrifuge design” (Customer: LLC “NTC Ekomash”, Kharkiv, Ukraine);
- “Development of measures for the rational use of plant and animal waste in the Kharkiv region” (Customer: “TSK RYSAIKLING GROUP”, Kharkiv, Ukraine);
Also, O. Shestopalov, as a leader, actively participated in the implementation of research projects included in the plans of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine:.
- “Development of physico-chemical and thermotechnical bases of heterogeneous processes in energy technology systems” (DR №0108U001454, responsible executor);
- “Development of the scientific foundations of low-waste technologies for the treatment and utilization of wastewater” (DR №0118U002334, topic directory);
- “Development of a methodology for finding conditions for optimizing the processes of separation of highly dispersed suspensions in the processes of dewatering highly dispersed suspensions under the action of gravitational and inertial forces” (DR №0118U002333, topic leader).
In 2012-2014, as a member of the working group from NTU “KhPI”, he participated in the implementation of the CENEAST international project “Reformation of educational programs in the field of urban planning for the construction of the environment and the countries of Eastern Europe” (530603 – TEMPUS – 1 – 2012 – 1 – LT – TEMPUS – JPCR (2012-3071/001-001).
