A start-up is a unique opportunity to monetize your scientific developments. Participation in the start-up project competition allows teachers, graduate students and students of the department to first of all get an assessment of their idea from the point of view of investment attractiveness, see the weaknesses of their start-up, hear apt criticism and change everything for the better next time.
Starting from 2019, the staff of the department actively participates in the start-up competition from the CIG R&D LAB fund (https://m.facebook.com/CIG-RD-LAB-854432768058476/?refid=18&__tn__=%2As-R), whose goal is to provide comprehensive financial support to the best scientific projects that have public benefit, potential to enter the market and can be profitable in the future.
In 2019, taking part for the first time, students of the department Kochetov M.S. and Stognii D.S. did not even pass the selection stage, but gained invaluable experience and learned about their three biggest mistakes in design and promotion of the idea.
Already in 2020, students of the department Stogniy D.S. and Sukhareva M. reached the face-to-face stage of evaluation of projects with a start-up idea about a complex technology for the utilization of coffee grounds. They did not have enough votes to enter the final part of the competition.

In the same year 2020, a graduate student of the department, Oksana Getta, as part of a team, reached the finals of the competition from CIG R&D LAB, received a scholarship to continue research and eventually became the winner with the Opty team (ozone generator for disinfecting surfaces and objects from the coronavirus infection COVID- 19) and received funding (250,000 hryvnias) for the manufacture of the device and its entry into the market.

During participation in start-up competitions, it became clear that, like any activity, the creation of start-ups requires fundamental preparation. In order to master the skills of creating, designing, presenting, promoting their start-up projects, young teachers of the department in the 2021/2022 academic year took part in the “Startup Intensive for Teachers” school-seminar on the basis of the SPARK start-up center. The training was successfully completed and Asst. Guetta O.S., Assistant. Grubnik A.O., art. off Baranova A.O. received certificates from the seminar school, invaluable knowledge and already know how to use them in practice next time.
