
On 6–7 November 2025, the Sixth Congress of Ukrainian Medical Historians with international participation was held, dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of the first edition of Avicenna’s work ‘The Canon of Medical Science’ (1025–2025). The congress was attended by scientists from 22 higher education institutions in Ukraine, as well as experts from the Czech Republic, Israel, Romania, Poland, and Germany. The congress brought together scientists from various fields: medicine, history, philosophy, theology, and sociology, which made it possible to comprehensively consider issues in the history of medicine.
The preparation and work of the congress involved, in particular, a member of its organising committee, Vice-President of the Ukrainian Academy of Medical History, Professor of the Department Ihor Robak, and academician of the UAMH, associate professor of UKIN, director of the Centre for Medical Local History named after Prof. V. D. Otamanovsky Centre for Medical Local History. They presented a joint report entitled ‘Prosthetics and Rehabilitation of the Wounded in the Context of the Modern War for Ukraine’s Independence: Understanding the Experience of the First Decade (2014–2024) from the Perspective of the History of Science and Technology.’ The full text of the report, which was published as an article in the Eastern European Journal of Internal and Family Medicine, can be found by scanning the QR code on the slide.
