Scientific work of students is an important development direction of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology. Students can be involved in carrying out certain research both within the existing scientific directions of the department, and propose independent directions and topics. The scientific work of students and the results obtained during its implementation are the first stage for the further formulation of a start-up project with the aim of commercializing the development.
The teachers of the department never refuse to help students with their scientific research, are always open to help and give useful advice, specify the research plan and help in conducting experiments and processing the results. Some students of the department start working on an additional “scientific” workload from the second year and subsequently achieve quite a few results (for example, Stadnik V., Stognii D., Kochetov M.) and choose further study at a graduate school to obtain Doctor of Philosophy degree.
In a certain way, the relevance and novelty of students’ scientific work can be assessed by the results of their participation in various competitions. It should be noted that not all student developments and researches become integral scientific projects, some of them are canceled at the early stages for various reasons, including the lack of feasibility of the research, the lack of understanding of the path to commercialization, and even a drop in the interest of the researchers themselves.
The teaching staff of the department pays special attention to the participation of students in regional contests of scientific works, because it is the jury of city and regional contests that can properly evaluate developments from the point of view of the needs of a specific city and region, find funding programs and implement them.
