2. Research Directions
- FE-Based Computational Modeling of Soft Tissues for Medical Applications
- 3D Computer Modeling and Simulation of Medical Prostheses
3. Key Projects
Development of symbolic regression models to determine material behaviors, including strain density functions and relaxation functions for hyperelastic tissues.
Links to Project:
Parametric FE modeling of 2D sections of human blood vessels affected by atherosclerosis. Computational experiments analyze how different types and sizes of plaques influence stress and strain distributions. Optical Coherent Tomography (OCT) images, manually processed and enhanced with semi-automatic NN-CV tools, are used for geometric modeling.
Links to Project:
High-velocity penetration studies focusing on ballistic trauma (e.g., gunshot wounds, shrapnel). The team conducts experiments using ballistic plastilina to simulate soft tissues and validates computational models against these results.
